MLB FanDuel Gut Feeling 7/24
I hope you guys checked my Twitter feed (@BLB_85) while I wasn’t able to write on here. My last two nights my teams were well into the 40s scoring wise. I was talking to the founder of goingfor2 and we bot found it funny that my two best days of the week I couldn’t write. So far my 50/50s have been successful every day this week except Tuesday. Here’s hoping that tonight’s lineup continues that trend. I’m going to follow the same formula I’ve been doing lately, a mid range pitcher with a great matchup and a slew of strong hitters. Here’s what I have for tonight:
Pitcher: Dan Haren $7,100
Haren faces off against a struggling Padres offense tonight on the Marlins west coast trip. Haren has been up and down this year and despite a rough outing against the Phillies during his last start I think he will rebound. I’m counting on it.
Catcher: Stephen Vogt $2,700
Vogt hits righties very well and gets a crack at Jake Peavy tonight. Peavy has been average since his return and Vogt has a high ceiling tonight with his price range under $3,000.
First Baseman: Mark Teixeira $3,900
Until yesterday, Tex has had at least two hits in each of his past four games. Target Field is not a hitters park especially out in right field but I’m willing to bet he can get a double off of Phil Hughes even if he doesn’t get a homer.
Second Baseman: Brandon Phillips $3,200
In what should be a high scoring series for the Reds against the Rockies out in Denver, I want to have two of their top hitters in my lineup, and Phillips is one of them. With hits in his last five games, he’s in a very favorable spot tonight.
Third Baseman: Todd Frazier: $4,900
Frazier has been hot this week, and that has reflected in his price. Coors Field is very friendly to hitters so let’s hope Frazier can take his tear on the road.
Shortstop: Alexi Ramirez $2,400
Despite his matchup against Kluber and the Indians, I’m not going to let that deter me from picking him. Ramirez has picked it up at the plate since the All Star Break and I’m banking on Ramirez getting a couple of hits tonight as my Ultimate Gut Call.
Outfielder: Jacoby Ellsbury $3,800
Since his return from the DL, Ellsbury has really gotten the Yankees offense going. In a big series on the road against the Twins, I expect he and Teixeira to carry the load.

Outfielder: Hunter Pence $3,300
Pence has hits in eight of his last ten games, with three homers and 11 RBIs in that stretch. Chavez typically doesn’t pitch as well on the road so Pence is in a good spot here.
Outfielder: Cameron Maybin $3,700
Maybin’s bat has cooled recently, but the Braves get a shot at pitcher Tim Cooney tonight. Cooney has done well, but I think Maybin will be better tonight.
Confidence: 4 out of 5
I think tonight’s slate could come down to Dan Haren’s pitching. The hitters should hold up their end of the bargain. Good luck everyone!
