MLB Fanduel Lineup Advice 4/23
Let’s give a quick shoutout to David Price for ruining a perfectly good lineup (-3.67 points from the ace, and I was 3 points away from cashing with that lineup). Luckily, my Kershaw lineup cashed easily, thanks to an awesome day from Devon Travis. Games start at the crisp early hour of 10:30am for me tomorrow (MST), and I’ll be in marketing class, so I’m doing my suggestions a little earlier than normal!
Pitchers
Chris Sale, CWS – $10,200
I’m hesitant to recommend an ace after Price’s debacle (just kidding), but I think Chris Sale is the best pitching play tomorrow. This will be Sale’s third start after beginning the season a little late due to injury, and he’s ready to become absolutely unleashed. Some of the most prominent hitters in the Royals lineup are lefties, which is purely beneficial to the southpaw. Expect a ton of strikeouts in 7+ innings, and hopefully Jose Abreu and the boys can get to youngster Yordano Ventura for some run support.
Homer Bailey, CIN – $8,200
The Brewers are abysmally bad and injury-ridden, so this could be a perfect storm type situation for Homer Bailey to get back on track in his second start of the season. The Simpsons main character wannabe has always had a ton of potential and some great pitches, but it hasn’t fully materialized in the majors yet. If you’re looking for a strong GPP play or even a cheaper pitching optionĀ for a cash game, Bailey is your guy with the potential for strikeouts and that coveted 4 point W.
Hitters
Stephen Vogt, C, OAK – $3,500
Vogt has been tearing the cover off the ball to start the season, and he gets a tasty matchup against irrelevant righty Nick Tropeano (C.J. Wilson’s start was pushed back). The A’s backstop is nearly at must-start status with this matchup, and he is still sitting at a cheap price tag. Start Vogt with confidence tomorrow in all lineups, unless you want to spend $200 extra on Wilin Rosario, who was sent down to Triple-A today.
Dee Gordon, 2B, MIA – $4,000
Batting leadoff and a favorable matchup are two facets of a slam dunk pick for your lineups, and Dee Gordon fits the bill on both. The Marlins offense could have a field day against Phillies starter Dustin McGowan, and Flash Gordon will certainly be in the thick of things if that’s the case. Two points for a stolen base is so clutch, and with the aging Ruiz behind the dish, the Marlins middle infielder might have a shot at one or two swipes. If you can afford him, Dee might be one of the best options at second base tomorrow.
