MLB Fanduel Lineup Advice 5/1

It was an interesting day yesterday, with Chris Sale getting shelled but luckily he was highly owned so I was still able to barely cash. Let’s look at Friday’s full slate and see what players are good plays.

Pitchers

Max Scherzer, WAS – $10,500

I think Harvey or Scherzer are fine bets tomorrow to play at pitcher, and this is certainly going to be a fun game to watch. I expect a pitcher’s duel in this contest, which means a lot of batters are going to be striking out. The win potential is kind of a toss-up, but if I were to trust one offense more than another it would be the Nationals. Even if Mad Max gets the no decision, I still think he will be a valuable asset to your lineup and is the most expensive pitcher for a reason.

Jon Lester, CHC – $8,700

Newly-acquired Jon Lester has been pretty terrible so far this season in his switch to the NL, but the remedy to slump might be facing the Brewers lineup on Friday. Lester gets to avoid the return of Carlos Gomez and that lineup is still without Lucroy and Gennett, which is certainly nice for his value. Lester had 10 K’s last time out against the Reds, and hopefully he can have another repeat performance against the Brewers.

Hitters

Dustin Pedroia, 2B, BOS – $2,900

Pedroia is a cheap option at second base against lefty CC Sabathia on Friday, who historically is worse versus right-handed pitching. I like the whole Red Sox stack for May 1, but Pedroia’s attractive speed and power as well as his position in the lineup make him the Boston player to own.

Joc Pederson, OF, LAD – $3,600

Pederson batted leadoff on Wednesday evening, and if he is in the same spot in the lineup on Friday he is a fantastic option. The young outfielder is playing at home against a natural platoon matchup for him, Rubby de la Rosa. Now while the Diamondbacks pitcher has been very solid to start the season, I think that the potent Dodgers lineup can bring him back down to Earth. Before you insert Pederson into your lineups be sure to check where he’s hitting and see if that’s okay with you, but he should be a decent option across the board regardless.
