MLB Fanduel Lineup Advice 5/6

I’m on a nice scorcher right now, with a week straight of cashing! Both my initial and updated lineups cashed last night, thanks to a big night from the Dodgers and the hot hitting of Ellsbury. Let’s hop into Wednesday’s all-day slate and go for eight straight.

Pitchers

Gerrit Cole, PIT – $9,200

Reigning NL Pitcher of the Month Gerrit Cole is off to a fantastic start to the 2015 season, with a 1.76 ERA and 0.98 WHIP to go along with a 4-0 record. The Pirates hurler’s worst start came against the Cincinnati Reds in his first start of the season, but since then he has gone at least 6 IP with 1 or fewer ER and at least 6 strikeouts in all of his starts. Cole has a great track record against many prominent Reds hitters, and pitching at spacious PNC Park will help keep the ball in the yard. I expect another elite outing from Cole tonight, with a quality start to go along with 7+ strikeouts. The win potential is there also, as pedestrian righty Mike Leake is on the hill opposite of Cole.

Ubaldo Jimenez, BAL – $6,900

Related Articles

Thus far in 2015, Jimenez’s pitching has been reminiscent of his elite 2010 first half with the Colorado Rockies. In four starts this season the Orioles flamethrower is sporting a 1.59 ERA and a 0.79 WHIP, and those numbers might be lower if it weren’t for an early ejection in his second start against Boston. Despite their record, the Mets are in the latter half of the best hitting teams in the NL and they only have 17 home runs on the year (fourth fewest in the NL). Also, Citi Field is known for being deep in certain parts of the outfield, which can only help Ubaldo limit the Mets’ offense. Ubaldo might be more of a GPP than a cash play, but either way, expect a quality start to go along with a healthy amount of strikeouts.

Other options: Max Scherzer (WAS), Lance Lynn (STL), Chris Heston (SF)

Hitters

Russell Martin, C, TOR – $3,500

The wily veteran backstop has been off to a great start for Toronto this year, with 6 HR, 17 RBI, and a .263 average. He is currently on fire at the plate with nine hits in his last four games, and the native Canadian has an awesome matchup against Yankees lefty C.C. Sabathia today. I love the full Blue Jays stack today but if you’re looking for just one hitter from that potent lineup, expect Russell Martin to hit towards the top of the order and have some juicy fantasy stats.

Billy Burns, OF, OAK – $2,300

If you have Scherzer or Sale on your squad, look no further than Billy Burns to help you save some salary. The fact that the A’s outfielder is still just above the minimum price is absolutely absurd, and he has a great matchup tonight against Twins righty Kyle Gibson. Since slotting into the leadoff spot on May 2, Burns has hit in every game and has one stolen base. Burns is that spark plug at the top of the lineup that the Athletics were looking for, and I’m finding it nearly impossible to fade him tonight.
