NBA DFS Fanduel Lineup Advice 2/27/16
What’s up, everyone. Well, it’s still too early to tell how all my values did from yesterday. As I write this, the late games haven’t even tipped off yet, but I can tell you that Hollis Thompson and Evan Fournier were bad calls! They have single handily ruined my night. Looking on the bright side, I get an early start on my column.
Just a quick promo here, be sure to check out the NBA Spreadsheet that Gerson created. It really helps condense all your research into one place, and it’s the only “live updating” spreadsheet that I’m aware of. Check it out here.

NBA DFS Fanduel Lineup Advice and Analysis for 2/27/16
Game Winner My Game Winner will be my top play for the position.
Dunk A Dunk is a second or third tier player with the highest upside.
Half-Court Shot Otherwise known as a “punt play”.
Pass A player deemed a Pass is someone I’m avoiding — or “passing” on.
Point Guard
Game Winner Stephen Curry (GS) @ OKC $11,100/Russell Westbrook (OKC) vs GS $11,000
Yeah, I know, picking both is a cop-out, sue me! If you really want to split hairs, Westbrook is cheaper….by $100.
Dunk Mike Conley (MEM) @PHO $6,900

Dare I say this is Conley’s team now that Marc Gasol is gone for the year? Well, even if it isn’t, the team is only going to go as far he can take them. Against the lowly Suns tonight he can take your DFS lineup to the promise land. Okay, that may be going a bit too far, but he is a good play nonetheless.
Half-Court Shot Ronnie Price (PHO) vs MEM $3,900
I had him as one of my values the other night, and no one I knew was on board with it. I heard, “I like Phil Pressey more”, or, “Brandon Jennings for $100 more is a better play.” Well, I stuck to my guns and played Price in my main lineup and took home a nice chunk of change. The Grizzlies are no longer a defense you need to avoid and Price is going to get ALL the minutes at PG that he can handle.
Pass Derrick Rose (CHI) vs POR $7,200
Not even worth telling you why…
Shooting Guard
Game Winner Khris Middleton (MIL) vs DET $7,600
The Pistons are actually decent against the shooting guard, but on this slate, he offers the most upside for his price. Harden could get 45 and fall short of his value. Middleton can get that same 45 and you’d be ecstatic. I’m not predicting he gets 45, but I think the chance he hits 45 is better than Harden’s chances of hitting five-times value (55) against the Spurs.
Dunk Rodney Hood (UTA) vs BKN $6,000
He struggled against the Spurs last time out, but who doesn’t? This matchup against the Nets is what I like to call a “get right game.” Expect him to bounce back and “get right” tonight to the tune of 30-plus fantasy points.
Half-Court Shot Danny Green (SA) @ HOU $7,900
Speaking of “get right” games. After throwing up a dud in Utah the other night, his price dropped, but against James Harden defense (if we can call it that) Green should also be able to “get right.”
Pass James Harden (HOU) vs SA $11,000
If I’m paying up for an $11,000 player, I’m taking Curry or Westbrook, not the guy going against the Spurs. He could get 55, he is that good, but I’m not going to count on it.
Small Forward
Game Winner Kawhi Leonard (SA) @ HOU $7,900
Here I go again. Falling in love with Leonard. But if keeps up this level of production, his price won’t stay sub-8k for long. He had a 49 fantasy point effort against them earlier in the year and I think he can do that again. The Rockets are playing better so they should be able to keep it close.
Dunk Matt Barnes (MEM) @ PHO $5,000
What’s not to love? 35 fantasy point upside and a great matchup with the Suns. Tony Allen could throw a wrench in my plans if he plays, but assuming he sits out, Barnes is an elite value play. (written before last night’s game, opinion could change)
Half-Court Shot Mike Dunleavy (CHI) @ POR $3,700
Say what? Yes, you read that right. Three straight games over 25 minutes resulting in three straight games over 20 fantasy points. As long as Jimmy Butler is out, and possibly Derrick Rose, Dunleavy should continue to see decent minutes.
Pass Trevor Ariza (HOU) vs SA $6,200
The Spurs effect.
Power Forward
Game Winner Anthony Davis (NO) vs MIN $10,200
Okay, let’s hear it. “Davis is soft! He won’t make it through the game.” I know, he is always a risk, but this is why you take him. Two games ago he had nine real-life points…. and 40 fantasy points. He has already had two 40-plus games against the Wolves already this year, and that was before he had really hit his stride like he has over the past three games.
Dunk Jabari Parker (MIL) vs DET $5,700
Five straight games with 30-plus fantasy points, including a 46 fantasy point effort in Atlanta. At $5,700, he may have the highest upside of any player on tonight’s slate. The Pistons aren’t bad against the power forward spot, but they aren’t great either. Expect Parker to continue to put up elite numbers for his price.
Half-Court Shot Mirza Teletovic (PHO) vs MEM $4,600
Coming off a 40 fantasy point effort against the Nets, Teletovic represents the best value at power forward tonight. With 40 fantasy point upside at $4,600, you can’t do any better. You’ll be happy if he gets 25.
Pass Thad Young (BKN) @ UTA $7,000
After his huge 51 fantasy point game, Young is going to be a popular choice for the “point-chasers”, meaning he’ll be high-owned, but the Jazz are NOT the Suns. He will go back to his 25-30 fantasy point range, which isn’t bad, but for a guy I expect to be highly owned, there are better options.
Center
Game Winner Karl-Anthony Towns (MIN) @ NO $8,900
This dude is a beast! How fun is this game going to be to watch with Anthony Davis and KAT going at it. If the OKC/GS game wasn’t on this slate, I might have stacked those two in a lineup. It will be hard to fit him in your lineup tonight with all the high prices, but if you can fit him, prepare to be rewarded nicely, the Pels are awful against opposing centers.
Dunk Rudy Gobert (UTA) vs BKN $6,400
I said about a month ago that Gobert’s price wouldn’t go back below $7,000. I was wrong. After three sub-par games, I’d expect him to be low-owned, but I’m going to stick with the theme tonight. This will be his “get right” game.
Half-Court Shot Steven Adams (OKC) vs GS $4,400
Adams logged nearly twice as many minutes as his frontcourt teammate Enes Kanter is the last game between these two teams. I’m not sure if that was by design or if there was some foul trouble involved, but both guys scored 25-plus fantasy points and Adams is $500 cheaper.
Pass Brook Lopez (BKN) @ UTA $8,600
This is the Utah Jazz factor. Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors will be able to slow Lopez down, not to mention the Jazz, in general, slowing the pace down.
The 6th Man (other plays I like)
- PG Damian Lillard $9,400
- PG Shelvin Mack $3,700
- SG Klay Thompson $7,000
- SF Tobias Harris $5,900
- SF Kevin Durant $10,400
- PF Derrick Favors $7,700
- PF JaMychal Green $4,200
- C Andre Drummond $8,500
