Ranking the NFC East Fantasy Receivers (#FantasyFootball)
The NFL season is quickly approaching and fantasy drafts are gearing up to take off. Wide receiver is the deepest position in fantasy football and every division has them. Let’s take a look at the top fantasy receivers in the NFC East.
4. Golden Tate (NYG)
The newly signed Giants pass catcher started the season a Detriot Lion & finished it as a Philadelphia Eagles. Tate ended the season as WR29 in 2018, while playing on two different offenses. He still accumulated 113 targets last season.
Factoring the trade of Odell Beckham, there are 124 available targets from last season. Since 2014 Tate has not seen less than 110 targets in a season. I’m expecting him to hover around those numbers in 2019 also. Golden Tate is viewed as a WR3/4 in fantasy, but he’s WR2 on the Giants projected roster. Eli should enjoy his 67.6% career catch percentage.
3. Alshon Jeffery (PHI)
Alshon Jeffery finished last season as WR26 despite playing 13 games. Finishing 3rd in targets with 92 behind Nelson Agholor & Zach Ertz. The addition of Desean Jackson & JJ Arcega-Whiteside does bring some hesitation in terms of target share.
In 10 games with Carson Wentz, Jeffery saw 74 targets second behind Ertz (96). Jeffery has the trust of Wentz and that alone could keep him fantasy relevant amongst a talent offensive unit.
2. Sterling Shepard (NYG)
I’m aware there are two Giant receivers on this list. As the new defacto WR1 in the big apple, Shepard could see a small uptick in targets from his 107 last season. Similar to Tate, Sheppard predominately worked from the slot. 44 of his 66 receptions resulted from slot alignment.
Saquon Barkley should face frequently stacked fronts giving Shepard & Tate single coverage down the field. Shepard will enjoy the target share, but efficiency is the ultimate key.
1. Amari Cooper (DAL)
This was a no-brainer pick. After joining the Cowboys in week 7, Cooper saw 76 targets for 725 yards & 6 touchdowns. He finished 3rd in targets behind Ezekiel Elliot & Cole Beasley. With Beasley’s departure to Buffalo, there are 87 available targets this season.
Once the season kicks-off, Cooper would have a full off-season with Dak Prescott and the offensive system. While consistency has never been a strength of Cooper, he is the bonafide top receiving option in Dallas and I expect him to finish as a low-end WR1.
