NFL Player Comparison | LeSean McCoy
From a rushing perspective, Walker does a lot of things well that you saw out of McCoy as a runner coming out. Thye both showed the ability to stop on a dime and make defenders look silly in the open field. The ability to string together moves and accelerate to top speed makes both dangerous backs in open-field.
With good acceleration and long speed Walker similar to McCoy has big-play potential whenever he touches the ball. The downside to both backs is they will occasionally do too much and lose yards in an attempt to break the big play. The one glaring difference between the two is receiving ability.
Coming out of Pitt, McCoy was already an established pass catcher which translated to a big part of his game. Walker displays the traits to be effective in the passing game and if he can evolve as a player we could see a great well rounded back similar to McCoy.
Summary
Kenneth Walker is the best pure runner in this draft class. His ability to make defenders miss in the open field as well as run thru them makes him a special prospect. Walker consistently makes jaw-dropping plays in the run game whether it’s an ankle-breaking move or breaking off a big run.
While he showed this season he can handle a workhorse role with 277 touches he still doesn’t have a lot of wear on his tires with only 488 attempts in his career. The one real issue with Walker was his lack of use in the passing game which was in part to the offense.
If he is able to be productive in this aspect Walker can take himself from an RB1 caliber player to a top 5 overall running back. Walker is one of the safest picks in dynasty this year with a high floor. The exciting part is his ceiling is even higher putting him in the conversation for the top overall dynasty pick.
