Tiz’ The Season For Fantasy Moves (#FantasyFootball)
For those owners that are staring at an 0-3 start are also staring at a potentially long road ahead unless you act now and make some moves as there is likely only 8 or 9 weeks ahead until your leagues’ playoffs begin and your season either ends or has hopes of a Championship. Or even those 1-2 teams that do or don’t take points into consideration versus match-up. It’s never too early to take note and start thinking about the future of your team.
By making moves, I am not just referring to scouring the waiver wire because every owner is doing so on a weekly basis or at least they should be but I am more referring to offering trade proposals in hopes of bettering your team. Many owners are sitting back and wondering why others are not sending them offers while they are doing nothing. More often than not, you need to start the conversation.
Fantasy trades are often picked apart by our league-mates and fun is poked at both owners in most cases as we all have our own value of players, picks and bid bucks. But one must be aware that those owners are poking your ribs and giving you a hard time out of fun so don’t shy away from doing what you feel is best for your team even if it feels a bit risky because it’s the team that does nothing that suffers in the end.
Am I speaking from experience? Yes, I have been at both ends of the spectrum here and haven’t let it affect my decisions going forward. Most recently, I gave a jab at an owner for trading Julio Jones for Chris Godwin and Aaron Jones to the reigning Champion of a 14 team Auction League. All in good fun of course but that trade looked like to be a good one after week 2 but not as much after week 3 although not terrible. The point is, both owners noticed they needed to make a move or sit on their hands and chalk the season up as a loss after just 2 or 3 weeks.
Both of those teams are ahead of me in the win/loss category so I have to consider making a move myself instead of blaming my record on Antonio Brown and his lack of wanting to be a participant in the NFL. He did not draft my team and definitely is not managing my team. My team can is competitive without Antonio but I’m just not sure it can win the big dance so it never hurts to scour the waiver wire and throw out an offer or two to another owner. I just made a trade last week and am looking for opportunities to do the same this week.
Trust me, I have taken my fair share of shots when it comes to managing my roster but I have never faced a bigger decision than what to do with Antonio Brown as I own him in both a Dynasty and Seasonal league. I can’t trade him but also can’t leave him on a street corner…….story of my life!!!
