Week 14 NFL DFS Spade/Fade(DraftKings)

Welcome to Week 14! This is Spade or Fade for Daily Fantasy. We examine two players that we are endorsing as good plays to include in your lineup. We also give you two players that should be bypassed in favour of a player that has a better matchup for the week. We went one-for-two in picking spades last Week. Phillip Lindsey went off for 31.9 FPTS with 157 rushing yards and two Touchdowns against the Bengals. We missed on Kenny Golladay who struggled against the Rams hauling in only three-of-eight targets for a very pedestrian 50 yards receiving. On to this week’s featured players.

SPADE

Ezekiel Elliott RB DAL

Suddenly the Dallas Cowboys offense is humming along just fine. The arrival of wideout Amari Cooper has given the team a much needed boost and all of the sudden they are entrenched in a battle for first place for the division. The offense has developed into a much more balanced attack but is still led by Zeke Elliot who is on fire as of late. No matter how you slice it Elliot is the engine that runs this machine. Since week 10 Zeke has scored at least 25 FPTS, including 39.7 against this week’s opponent, the Philadelphia Eagles (Week 10). Elliot does the majority of his damage in the running game but has developed into a very effective pass-catching back as well. Since Cooper’s arrival he has averaged six targets per game. Elliot has at least five receptions in four straight contests. This is a great player to build your lineup around.

FADE

Cam Newton QB CAR

Cam Newton’s shoulder troubles this season has clearly hampered the talented quarterback. Carolina had prospects of a nice 2018 campaign winning six-of-eight games to open the season. Since then the Panthers have promptly dropped four straight and are now all the sudden looking towards the 2019 season. Newton had a stinker of a game last week throwing four interceptions, to of all teams, the defensively inept Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Week 14 brings on a road matchup versus the Cleveland Browns, who are defensively not as bad as the Bucs but aren’t much better, as they are ranked towards the bottom in all categories. At 6,300$ for Newton, you should be able to do much better. The Panthers are all but done, we don’t know what version of Cam we will get, plus the shoulder issues are limiting what Newton can do as deep passes are not even an option. An uninspired Cam Newton for that price just seems to risky, Fade.

Eric Ebron TE IND

Once again Ebron is featured on Spade/Fade. This time he makes it as a spade. The Indianapolis Colts were goose-egged last week but Ebron was heavily involved. 15 targets, 10 receptions at Jacksonville. Ebron is benefiting from Jack Doyle landing on the I.R. and will continue to be one of Andrew Luck’s favourite targets. The cupboard gets pretty empty after T.Y.Hilton, Ebron is guaranteed to be featured heavily in this offense. For the year Ebron has seen 24% of targets, 38% of deep targets and 28% of red zone targets. This week’s matchup isn’t ideal but the Houston Texans have allowed six touchdowns and the eighth most points to opposing tight ends.

FADE

Joe Mixon RB CIN

The Cincinnati Bengals season can’t end soon enough. Injuries have taken their tole and have completely derailed the 2018 season. The leaders of the offense Andy Dalton and A.J. Green are sidelined, amongst others, and now the team seems to be completely lost. Without key parts to the offense it will be difficult to produce for lead running back Joe Mixon. The Bengals draw the upstart San Diego Chargers for Week 14 who keep getting healthier and better as we near the end of the season. Joey Bosa and the rest of the Chargers defense will be a lot to handle for inexperienced QB Jeff Driskel and Joe Mixon this week. Fade.
