Week 9 NFL DFS Spade or Fade (DraftKings/Fanduel)

On to Week 9 for Spade or Fade NFL DFS. Marlon Mack had another great game and was a smart choice at a very affordable price. Kareem Hunt had a very good game, perhaps not as monstrous as we were hoping. Let’s get into this week’s feature players.

Adrian Peterson WAS RBĀ

Adrian Peterson is quietly having another great season. For Week 9’s matchup, the Redskins will face a very average to below average defense in the Atlanta Falcons. On the ground is where Peterson’s bread and butter lies and the Falcons have given up 112.7 rushing yards a game through the first eight weeks of the season. Teammate running back Chris Thompson carries the questionable tag going into this one as he suffered yet another injury. He will be a game-time decision. Even if Thompson plays it will likely be a limited game plan for the pass-catching back. Peterson has gone over 90 yards rushing in five of seven games this season for Washington.

FADE

Juju Smith-Schuster WR PIT

Smith-Schuster will be up against a very tough, true and tested group in the Baltimore Ravens for Week 9. Even though Smith-Schuster and Antonio Brown have been very good this year this matchup on the road against a divisional rival just seems to risky. If history tells us anything, the Steelers and Ravens will be a tough hard fought game where the defense is usually always the difference and the Ravens will be ready for this one as they normally are.

SPADE
DeAndre Hopkins WR HOU

There seems to be no question that the Houston Texans have really turned a corner recently. Even though they have a somewhat tough matchup on the road against the Broncos this week, Hopkins has found the end-zone four times in the last three games. The Broncos pass defense is considered “middle-of-the-pack” at this point in the season as they are ranked 11th in the league. Overall they have given up 373.3 total yards per game which ranks them number 22. Recently acquired wideout, Demaryius Thomas will add another level to this more than capable offense.

FADE

Ryan Fitzpatrick QB TB

Fitzmagic is back and that’s all well and good but as productive as he can be he also is incredibly prone to turning the ball over. Ignoring any sort of lower discounted price tag, we can do much better. There is no questioning the Bucs commitment to airing it out this season and that has been matchup proof throughout the whole season. Game flow could also dictate how Fitzpatrick does in this one as well. The Panthers are ranked in the upper third of the league in time of possession at 30:30(11th as per teamrankings.com).
