Week 4 of the Major League Baseball waiver wire for Fantasy Baseball. Each week we will feature players that should be monitored for possible additions to your fantasy baseball team. This week there are a good number of very interesting players that we could be talking about for the foreseeable future. Pay attention to these guys, they could be very useful.
OF David Dahl COL
The very talented 24-year-old will get an opportunity to man the outfield as Gerardo Perra will be serving his suspension and right fielder Carlos Gonzalez out due to injury. If Dahl is able to perform up to his standards he will be a very hot commodity. He can run and is thought to have good bat skills. Roster this player if he’s available in your leagues.
2B/SS Gleyber Torres NYY
Torres is finally going to get the opportunity to be the every day second baseman for the Bronx Bombers. Immediately he is must own. He profiles to provide a high average with some speed and some pop. Of course what makes this even better for owners is that he will be hitting in a very deep lineup that plays half of its games at the very friendly confines of Yankee Stadium.
3B Miguel Andujar NYY
Never thought to be in the mix to start the season, Andujar has performed really well since his promotion to what looks like, the everyday third baseman. The hype wasn’t as much as teammate Gleyber Torres but the talent could be close to equal. Andujar has hit 7 doubles to date to go along with a .308 bating average. The only concern is the fact that he has shown to be somewhat of a free swinger which will affect the on base percentage.
OF Teoscar Hernandez TOR
Since his call up, Hernandez has started in the outfield, 7 straight games for the Blue Jays. He has performed incredibly well and now is forcing the Jays to make a potentially very difficult decision. A .343 average to go along with good power and maybe even a few steals makes him more than worthy of a spot on your roster.
3B Christian Villanueva SD
This is one of the leagues hottest hitters to start the season. The 26-year-old continues to hit for power and average, and is the owner of a 9 game hitting streak. Across the board Villanueva should be owned in all leagues.
C Kurt Suzuki ATL
Production is always scarce at the catchers position, we may have found some value in Kurt Suzuki. You may want to roster teammate Tyler Flowers as well, as he is due to return from injury in the near future. Suzuki has put up very good numbers after also being a reliable option last year. The Braves lineup is vastly improved, and so far has perhaps exceeded expectations. The talent is undeniable, just a surprise it has come together this soon.
SP Jack Flaherty STL
An injury to Adam Wainwright opened up a spot in the rotation for the highly touted rookie prospect. His first start was very promising, only one earned run with 9 strikeouts in 5 innings. Wainwright’s injury is thought to be short-lived, however, early indications are that Flaherty will still remain with the big league club. This makes him worthy of a roster spot.
SP Tyson Ross SD
An ERA under 3.00, almost a strikeout per every inning pitched(24/25.2) has the Padre hurler looking really good. Ross also took a no-hitter into the eighth inning recently against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Ross is the clear-cut ace now that Dinelson Lamet is shelved for the season. He should be owned in all leagues.
SP Junior Guerra MIL
It looks like Guerra has earned a spot in the Brewers rotation. In only three starts Guerra has given up just one single run. Last year was a totally different story, an ugly 5.12 ERA in 21 starts. Guerra draws the Chicago Cubs next which will be a good test and will give us a better idea of the talent level.
SP Chris Stratton SF
The former first round pick has provided some much-needed pitching for the San Francisco Giants. They lack depth at starting pitching and have had to deal with a couple of injuries to the front end of the rotation. Stratton has been more than admirable with a very impressive 2.32 ERA. He is worth a roster spot in most, if not all leagues.
SP Eduardo Rodriguez BOS
The best could be yet to come for the talented lefty. In limited action Rodriguez has shown good punch out ability with 20 strikeouts in 15.2 innings. If the Bosox take the reins off, we may have a pitcher who could provide really good K totals.
