Bottom Line

Travis Ettiene stayed at Clemson for his senior year and the 2020 football season. He was heavily involved in the offense all four years at Clemson. Ettiene had 766 yards and 13 touchdowns in his freshman year before he became the starter in his sophomore season. Once he became the starter, Ettiene never slowed down, ending his Clemson career with 4,952 yards and 70 touchdowns on the ground. His acceleration and quick burst are the best in this year’s rookie class. He has good vision, but sometimes he hits the hole too soon, leading him to sometimes choose the wrong gap. His strong lower body allows him to break tackles when he is at full speed. His phenomenal speed also allows him to get to the edge and turn upfield quickly. But there is one major thing he needs to work on in the running game. When he is about to brace for contact, he tends to stop his feet which doesn’t allow him to gain many yards after contact.

Ettiene’s pass catching skills have improved every season at Clemson. In his Junior and Senior seasons, Ettiene had 432 and 588 yards receiving, respectively. The best thing about his receiving game is his ability to gain yards after the catch. He is very good at catching the ball and turning upfield as soon as he secures the ball. To become an elite running back in the NFL, he has one thing he has to improve. Ettiene must improve and become better at pass protection if he wants to be a three down back.
