Overall Outlook
The goal of every draft is to find your sure-fire guys that you can one hundred percent count on to produce. But, unfortunately, there are genuinely very few players who fulfill our desires with their production week in and week out. However, if you do a little research, you will find those rare pieces to your puzzle.
I have found a rare piece that I think you should be, making every effort to secure in your upcoming drafts. The best part is that somehow this player is continually undervalued year after year.
Embed from Getty ImagesKeenan Allen is a must-have in fantasy this year, in my opinion. Not only does he produce weekly, but he has also proven for the last four consecutive seasons that he is a WR1. In addition, Allen has produced four successive seasons at or above the 1000 yard mark and has scored no less than six touchdowns. Plus, you get all of that for a guy who is going at 3.03 ADP.
On the flip side, Allen has had some injury concerns early in his career and did miss two games last season. But, before that, he went three consecutive seasons without missing a game. And during that four-season stretch, Allen has not been below 135 targets in a season. Even last year, when he missed two games, he was still targeted 147 times.
Another incredibly encouraging piece is the play and emergence of Justin Herbert. He showed quick rapport with Allen and continued to feed his top wideout. With Anthony Lynn no longer leading the team this year, a new scheme will be in place. But Herbert sees Allen as the top option as he gets the lion’s share of the target share. No other pass catcher was within 50 targets of Allen last year.
One other small caveat is that Allen is in year two of his four-year eighty million dollar contract with an opt-out clause after this season. So the Chargers would take a big dead cap hit, but if Allen doesn’t produce this season, there is potential to move on. So for Allen, another WR1 type of season would secure year three of his contract.
This season, Keenan Allen will definitely finish as a top 12 wide receiver and may even break into the top 10. He has a proven track record, is the clear-cut number one target share, and has a young QB with a big arm and a love for his WR1. So when you are up in the third round, and you see K. Allen sitting there, don’t even hesitate; you will be consistently rewarded for your decision. There is history to prove it!
