Bottom Line

The biggest thing that stood out while watching Bateman was how much he looked the part. Bateman fits the physical profile of an elite receiver, with his 6-foot-2, 211-pound frame. He is tough to bring down in the open field. He can be very physical and aggressive. Bateman’s strong balance is used to handle contact against defenders, and allows him to maintain his speed even through contact. He has natural acceleration and body twitch with fast feet, capable of making a defender miss in the open field. He will struggle a bit against press man, but I believe he will learn how to beat that in time. A coach is going to need to refine his route running as well. He would be great in a vertical spread offense.
