…And the Odds Are: Week 8 NFL Picks

Back again with your Week 8 NFL picks. Last week was another sub-par week going 1-and-2 bringing our season total to 5-and-4. We are looking to get back on the winning track this week with three games that I think we can take advantage of. Let’s get going with NFL betting for the Week 8 games

Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Redskins (+2)

This is one of the oldest and most heated rivalries in all of sports. When these two teams meet you can throw out the records. Unfortunately for the Redskins, they have too many injuries both offensively and defensively to compete with Dallas in this game. In fact, head coach Jay Gruden had this to say earlier in the week:

“I’ll have to make some changes. I don’t have any linemen, so there will have to be some changes made. Maybe even more seven-on-seven, a little bit more individual [drills] for the offensive line to make sure we’re getting…”

If you don’t have enough healthy lineup to even run a full-contact practice, what are you going to do in a live game? It does sound like a few of the OL may be healthy enough to play this weekend, but it doesn’t give me any level of confidence in their ability to either protect Kirk Cousins or to get the running game going.

The injuries don’t stop there, every-down linebacker Mason Foster (shoulder) is expected to put on IR and both starting cornerbacks, Josh Norman and Bashaud Breeland, are both questionable and even if they play, could struggle in coverage.

The Redskins couldn’t stop Carson Wentz and the Eagles last week, and they will have similar struggles this week against Dallas. Pick: Cowboys minus the points

Los Angeles Chargers @ New England Patriots (-7)

It’s no secret that west coast teams struggle when they have to fly east for a 1 pm EST game, and when they are flying east to face the Patriots things can only get worse. The Chargers have struggled mightily this season on both offense and defense, and it won’t get any easier for them on Sunday.

The Patriots defense is not good by any measure, but they have played better as of late. If the Patriots offense is able to put up a bunch of points early and the Chargers are forced to be one-dimensional on offense, this game can get out of hand quickly.

The Chargers have gone 3-and-8 over the last two years in east coast games with 1 pm start times. Pick: Patriots minus the points

Indianapolis Colts @ Cincinnati Bengals (-10.5)

The 10.5 point spread really caught my eye in this game. Yes, the Colts are a bad team but are the Bengals good enough to cover the large point spread? I don’t think they are.

The Bengals are 2-and-4 on the season. Their two wins came in a blowout victory against the Browns and a four-point victory over the Bills. I think the Bengals will win this game, but they won’t cover the 10.5 points. Pick: Colts plus the points
