Cleveland Browns

The Browns have a backfield that has zero transparency. It’s made up of Isaiah Crowell, Terrance West and Duke Johnson. Any one of these 3 men can end up being the Browns starter come week 1.

Isaiah Crowell

Coming into last season, many thought Terrance West would be the Browns starter. We were wrong, Isaiah Crowell outplayed West in the early portion of the season and stole his job.

Crowell finished up the season with 607 yards and 8 TDs. He was the default starter getting the role based on how bad everyone else at the position played. In my opinion, this starting job is still very much up in the air in 2015.

Terrance West

He was supposed to be the starting option for the Browns last season, but, he disappointed all of his fantasy owners and dropped the ball. He finished up the season with 673 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Your guess is as good as mine on who will be the starting RB for the Cleveland Browns. With both Crowell and West having lack luster performances in 2014, the door may be open for Duke Johnson to walk through.

Duke Johnson

Many believe Duke Johnson should step in and be the starting RB for the Browns. He is the most explosive back they have, he is quick and agile, he can hit the smallest holes in a defense. He also brings excellent vision and balance to the table. It is hard to argue with this dudes upside.

There are some factors that I feel can keep him from being a starting RB in this league. He is under-sized, we have seen a small frame keep many men from becoming that 20 carry a game guy. He also has durability concerns.

Philadelphia Eagles

DeMarco Murray

DeMarco Murray is going to be the starter here, there is no question about that, but, after a season with a crazy workload, I’m worried whether his body can hold up for another 16 games. He finished up last season with a ridiculous 1,845 yards and 14 touchdowns.

He has the talent to dominate any game. Durability is the only concern we have, when we think about DeMarco Murray.

Ryan Mathews

Mathews can end up being a sick value. He can be had pretty late and if Murray should get hurt, he will step in and be the Eagles starting RB. He is another guy with durability concerns though.

Should he get the chance to start for this team, his value can’t be denied. He has the talent to start in this league. He has proved it before, all you have to invest in him is a back up level pick. I will gladly take the chance on him this season. I expect approximately 30-35 touches to be split between Murray and Mathews with about 20 of them going to Murray. At that volume both players could make Fantasy contributions even if they are both healthy all year.

Darren Sproles

Sproles is one of this guys who isn’t in contention for the starting job, but, he has a guaranteed role on this team. If you’re not in a PPR league, he isn’t worth your time. But, I could see him catching 50+ balls this season, bringing his usual PPR value to the table. I expect him to be used as the 3rd down pass catching back and also see him lining up at some WR, to make up for the Eagles below average receiving corps.
