Best FanDuel & DraftKings NFL DFS Advice Week 2 (9/17/23)

We are back for Week 2 of DFS in the 2023 season! Week 1 was… frustrating to say the least. With lots of sloppy offense along with the usual destruction of many off-season takes, the picture heading into week 2 looks much different.

This week, I am going to take a different approach to this article. Instead of 1 pick at each position, I am going to list 2, in exchange for shorter blurbs for each player. I still want this to be a relatively quick read for you guys! With that being said, let’s dive into my week 2 preview!

If you want to take watching these games to the next level, how about watching them on a 75-inch NEO QLED 4k Samsung TV? Nothing looks better than the NFL in 4k. I love my set up at home and with this TV you will not be disappointed. I had Red Zone on last week for all “7 hours of commercial free football.” Now let’s get to the picks this week…

Top FanDuel Picks:

Quarterbacks

  • Justin Fields ($8,000) @ TB

Fields always has slate-breaking upside with his legs and should be largely faded by the field given last week and his price. Given rushing QBs are a better bet on FanDuel, Fields should give you as high a ceiling as any QB with great leverage.

  • Lamar Jackson ($7,600) @ CIN

Much like Fields, I am hoping Lamar’s poor week 1 will lead to lighter ownership this slate. But at his price, don’t be surprised if he generates hefty ownership. This game is so good and if Lamar gets steamed, I like going to Burrow at $ to get access to this great game environment.

Running Backs

  • Dameon Pierce ($6,000) vs IND

I like Pierce in a good bounce-back spot here vs. Indy. We saw the Jaguars’ backs have good success last week vs. Indy and don’t be surprised if we see Pierce breakout this week. At $6k he’s a great value and shouldn’t be too highly owned.

  • Saquon Barkley ($8,800) @ ARI

At this price and his performance last week, I anticipate a low-owned Saquon in an amazing spot. The game script for this game should be in Saquon’s favor and he has the talent to break this slate.

Wide Receivers

  • Calvin Ridley ($8,300) vs. KC

Ridley separated himself as the clear WR1 in Jacksonville last week. In the highest game total of the week, this game should explode. Even if Ridley picks up some ownership, he feels like a smash in this matchup. We saw Amon-Ra St. Brown have great success vs. this Chiefs’ secondary, so expect something similar from Ridley.

  • Mike Evans ($7,100) vs. CHI

The Buccaneers were a pleasant fantasy surprise last week. I largely faded Evans in bestball this summer, but the Bucs showed a faster tempo and better pass game than I anticipated. We saw Doubs grab two TDs vs this defense last week, should be a great spot for Evans in a game that should get overlooked.

Tight Ends

  • Mark Andrews ($8,000) @ CIN

He fully practiced Friday and that means it is likely wheels up for Andrews and this offense. Andrews always carries TE1 potential on any slate and this will be a great game environment for that outcome. I love stacking Andrews with Lamar this week.

  • Irv Smith Jr. ($4,800) vs BAL

If you are looking to go cheap at TE this week, target good offenses. While Cincy did not look good last week, Smith still saw 5 targets. The entire offense should improve this week, which would be huge for Smith.

Defense

  • New York Jets ($3,700) @ DAL

I am fully fading this game outside of the Jets’ defense. Dallas may have scored 40 points last week, but a lot of that credit goes to their D/ST. The Jets shut down Josh Allen and the Bills on primetime, and at they can surely shut down Dak Prescott and Dallas. At this price, I love the Jets.

DraftKings

Quarterbacks

  • Justin Herbert ($7,000) @ TEN

Herbert is in a great spot here vs the Titans. He has all possibly the best group of weapons in football. I do wonder if Ekeler being out will keep people away from Herbert and the Chargers. If that is the case, Herbert is an amazing play this week.

  • Jared Goff ($6,200) vs SEA

As you will see in my remaining picks, I am all in on this DET-SEA game. This game exploded last year and the Lions showed last week their offense has not slowed down. Goff looked phenomenal and his O-line makes everything easier for him. He’s a great play at his price in a game that may get slightly overlooked in favor of JAX-KC.

  • Jahmyr Gibbs ($6,300) vs SEA

The field is likely to gravitate to Montgomery this week after the large discrepancy in usage between him and Gibbs. But Dan Campbell said it himself, Gibbs was just getting warmed up last week. Even if Gibbs gets less than a 50/50 split with Montgomery, he showed how explosive he is last week and he can be a great leverage play on Montgomery.

  • Bijan Robinson ($7,900) vs GB

I was so disappointed with Arthur Smith’s usage of Bijan and Allgeier last week. But, it is clear Bijan is the receiving back, and he should be lower owned given his price and usage last week. Both of these factors make him a great play this week.

Wide Receivers

  • Jaxon Smith-Njigba ($4,500) @ DET

I am prepared for the JSN breakout. It is coming and I want to be on it when it arrives. I like all of Seattle’s WRs this week, but JSN’s price tag is too good to pass up. He has so much upside to absolutely smash his cheap price tag.

  • Tee Higgins ($6,400) vs BAL

As I said when discussing Lamar, this is a great game to be stacking. Higgins saw 8 targets but no receptions. The field is likely to target Chase over Higgins for a bounce-back game vs Baltimore. We know what Higgins’ ceiling looks like, and the 8 targets showed he will not be lacking opportunities. Take the leverage off Chase and get access to this great game.

Tight Ends

  • George Kittle ($5,300) @ LAR

Kittle has the ceiling to be the top tight end on any slate. After a very disappointing performance last week, he shouldn’t pick up too much ownership vs the Rams this week. Give me the shot on the upside here at $5,300.

  • Sam Laporta ($3,900) vs SEA

Laporta looked great in his NFL debut and saw 5 targets. If this game explodes, expect Laporta to be involved in it. At $3,900 he should have lots of opportunities to smash his price tag. He is a great stack to play with Goff vs Seattle.

Defense

  • New York Jets ($2,700) @ DAL

I chose the same defense on both sites as I love the price on both given the game environment. I tend to target sub $3k defenses and when you can get a defense as talented as this one there, you do it.
