Detroit Tigers at New York Yankees
The Tigers are coming into New York after losing yet another series. They are now 2-8 in their last 10 games and will get a difficult matchup against the Yankee ace Cole. Cole has seen 31.2 innings of play letting up 20 hits, 7 runs, 1 HR, 3 BB and 50 Ks with a whip of 0.73 and an ERA of 1.71. Some solid numbers from the ace.
The Tigers are in for a long season and will attempt to counter Cole with Skubal. He has 19.0 innings of play giving up 18 hits, 12 runs, 5 HR, 12 BB, and 17 Ks. He owns a current ERA of 5.21 and a whip of 1.58.
The Yankees are the heavy favorite with a line of -340. The Yankees RL is the play here. The pitching advantage should be enough to cover the spread.
Cleveland Indians at Chicago White Sox
The White Sox appear ready to take strides this season to make a playoff berth and finally attempt to contend. They are 7-3 in the last 10 games and own a record of 13-10. They send give the nod to Keuchel to start in the first game against the Indians. The slinger has 25.0 innings of play, has let up 25 hits, 14 runs, 3 HR, 7 BB, and 12 Ks with an ERA of 4.32 and a whip of 1.32. Too many hits and runs for my liking.
The Indians are one game below .500 and are 4-6 in their last 10 games. It is a long season and I expect them to be contenders for a wild card spot. They have the talent to do so. They will send one of their best pitchers to the mound, Shane Bieber (2-2). The ace has 36.1 innings of play letting up 21 hits, 10 runs, 5 HR, 13 BB, and a whopping 57 Ks. Certainly isn’t his fault for his two losses.
The Indians are the favorite with a line of -145. The White Sox are the better team right now but Bieber is playing his heart out and I will align my bet with his play. Indians ML is the play.
