Broner versus Granados undercard is stacking up

The February hometown return bout of four-weight class champion Adrien Broner (32-2, 24 KOs) already set Cincinnati abuzz with anticipation among fight fans in the region. The Showtime Boxing and Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) event just might spoil Queen City boxing fans. Familiar face Hank Lundy just dropped into town Dec. 30th on a frigid Friday night, and treated fans to a superb boxing clinic, soundly defeating John Delperdang to capture the Universal Boxing Federation’s World lightweight title.

The often flamboyant Broner and his emerging promotional outfit, About Billions, is also attempting to provide Cincinnati sports fans with some championship caliber action – a feat the AFC North third place Cincinnati Bengals (6-9-1) failed to make happen. Cut the Bengals some slack, they made the playoffs in 6 of the previous 7 seasons.

The championship talent About Billions intends to include in Broner’s homecoming is reportedly a pair of current WBC World champions in southpaw featherweight Gary Russell Jr. (27-1, 16 KOs) and super welterweight Jermell Charlo (28-0, 13 KOs). Undefeated light heavyweight Marcus Browne (18-0, 13 KOs) from Staten Island, New York is also in play for the event. The scheduled bouts for all three fighters are still pending approval per BoxRec.

In addition to Broner’s host duties, The Problem will also be returning to the ring for the first time since April 1, 2016 for 12 scheduled rounds with Chicago’s Adrian Granados. Granados unexpectedly handed super lightweight knockout artist Amir Imam his first professional loss by way of an 8th round stoppage in November 2015.
