Tua Tagovailoa (QB-Miami Dolphins)

WHY: Down Week Against Stout Defense

Tua finished Week 12 with this lowest fantasy outing of 2023 and if you can pry him away from another dynasty manager then do it now! The 2022 season for Tua began promising and ended with doubts raised regarding his long-term health after concussions.

Through his first eleven games Tua has six top-12 fantasy finishes, three of which were top-3. Further, Tua currently sits at QB-12 and among the top-twelve QB’s he has the fewest rushing yards and is one of two QB’s that has zero rushing TD’s. The modern day fantasy manager would be discouraged by Tua’s lack of rushing upside, but be mindful of the system he plays in. What truly elevates Tua’s fantasy ability is the Mike McDaniel-structured offense that creatively allows him to spread the ball to a bevy of speedsters.

Continuity is key and Tua will return a number of his main weapons in 2024: Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Devon Achane, Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson. With the mix of youth and veterans, the Dolphins offense will be Tua-friendly for years to come. Do not wait for Tua to have another “down” game, get him in dynasty now!

Puka Nacua (WR-Los Angeles Rams)

WHY: Weeks Removed From 100-Plus, Double-Digit Target Performances

I know, I know, why buy Puka if he has not even reached double-digit targets or eclipsed 100 yards since Week 7? And now Kyren Williams is back doing, gulp, Kyren Williams things.

Puka’s target share to begin the season may have been out of necessity with Cooper Kupp out, but it is still remarkable that any rookie could warrant that level of QB focus. With Kupp entering his age-31 season in 2024, Puka is future of the Rams’ receiver group.

As we near the end of the 2023 season, this is the time in dynasty to project what roles players will have in offenses next year. While Puka is not likely to start the 2024 season with 25 targets in two games, it is clear he is going to be a staple in PPR formats for years to come with a steady WR-2 floor. If you can convince the dynasty manager that has Puka to send him your way then you will have a young building block for a promising dynasty team.

Davante Adams (WR-Las Vegas Raiders)

WHY: Uncertain QB Future & Shrinking Production Window

Despite two top-10 fantasy finishes on the season, Adams also finished the week outside of the top-24 seven times. Adams has remained as productive as he can given the troubling QB play.

Dynasty managers that want to hold onto him are hoping for a dramatic improvement in the QB position, whether that be the Raiders or via trade following the 2023 season. Given his contract, the first potential out for a team is not until after the 2024 season; however, a $15.7MM dead cap would still remain.

Miles Sanders (RB-Carolina Panthers)

WHY: Inefficient Season Coupled With Staff Firing That Brought Him In

Ding, Dong, Frank Reich is gone! But wait a second, does that really solve Sanders’ disappointing situation for fantasy?

Sanders has a paltry 6.5 PPR fantasy points per game and is averaging 3.1 yards per rushing attempt with approximately three targets per game. Outside of Week 3 where Sanders finished as the RB-11, the veteran RB has only one finish inside the top-24. And the offensive line has not done him any favors after uninspiring play and a litany of injuries has them ranked as the 25th best offensive line per PFN.

When it comes to Sanders’ value long term, it is important to remember that the RB is in the midst of the first of his four-year contract that he signed prior to the 2023 season after a banner year in Philadelphia. Per Spotrac, the Panthers have a potential out on his contract after the 2024 season, where he has a dead cap of $2.95MM. And with the Panthers needing to improve in all facets on offense over the coming years, Sanders will be leaving his RB prime and ultimately no longer be the productive fantasy player he was for the Eagles only a year ago. Dynasty managers would be wise to sell now, if there is any shred of interest.
