CeeDee Lamb had a Good season, 2021 will be Great

CeeDee Lamb WR Dallas Cowboys

Cedarian “CeeDee” Lamb played for the University of Oklahoma for three years as a wide receiver, and in 2020 was drafted 17th in the 1st round of the NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. Freshman year, Lamb had 807 receiving yards, Sophomore year Lamb totaled an impressive 1,158 yards, and ended it all with 1,327 yards his Junior year before opting out of his Senior Year for the NFL. Coming into the draft, Lamb was compared to DeAndre Hopkins. Touted as one of the most gifted in terms of ball-handling, tracking, and vertical receptions, Lamb was consistent and successful. Lamb’s on-field body contortion’s of being able to bend and shake to seemingly impossible positions and haul in the catch was spectacular. Lamb’s rookie class included Jerry Jeudy (Denver), Henry Ruggs (Las Vegas), and Justin Jefferson (Minnesota).

Lamb’s rookie season looked to be one for the record books. For the most part, it has been a good year for Lamb. As the WR3 in Dallas, in Week 1-5 with Dak Prescott under center, it looked like a match made in Heaven. Then Dak goes down and the Cowboys seemed lost on offense. Let’s take a trip back in time, where some of the best rookie wide receivers posted over 1000 yards in their debuts, some of those names included Randy Moss (1,313 yards), Anquan Boldin (1,317 yards), and Dallas’s own Bob Hayes (1,003 yards). Lamb is currently at 827 yards for the 2020 season which is a great statistic, but his fellow rookie wideout Minnesota’s Jefferson is at 1,182 yards currently and has a mediocre quarterback in Kirk Cousins. Imagine what might have been if Prescott never went down? Would Lamb be a top 10 WR week in and week out? I am a gambling gal, so I say yes. The Cowboys were early favorites to be in the Super Bowl, and if Dak would’ve stayed healthy, Lamb could have easily slipped into the WR1 role surpassing Cooper with the Cowboys’ regular-season schedule. Snapback to reality, Dak did go down, and Lamb has not been the same route runner. In week 15 versus San Francisco, Lamb posted 85 yards which is the most since the Week 5 game Dak was injured. Week 15 also saw Lamb break a three-game streak of not reaching the Top-50 wide receivers.

This is all going to change in 2021. Dak will take back over at the helm of the Cowboys offense, and together he and Lamb will make a run at the playoffs. There will be many outstanding rookies in the 2021 class that will shine, but Lamb will be one of the brightest wide receivers next season. Lamb will post numbers that will be hard to beat, and could potentially be a league winner for fantasy leagues worldwide. I am a firm believer in the QB/WR combo. Look at 2016 Brees and Thomas, where Thomas posted 1,137 yards in his rookie debut and in 2017 caught for more than 1,240 yards. I am not saying Dak is Brees or Lamb is Thomas, but historically, rookies have even better 2nd years since they have learned the system, and Lamb did not get that full opportunity since he lost his QB. 2021 will be Lamb’s year as he and Dak will get back on track and take the Cowboys easily into the playoffs. So if you have him in Dynasty, hold tight and in next year’s fantasy drafts, grab him. Lamb has already impressed, and 2021 will be his breakout year to blow us all away!
