CS:GO DFS – 4/7/20 Slate Breakdown for DraftKings

CS:GO aka Counter Strike: Global Offensive is a simple game at first glance. But when you watch one match you are immediately flabbergasted by the setups, the shots and most importantly the kills. And the talent has never been better in my opinion as guys like s1mple (NaVi) can land headshots with a desert eagle better than I can with an AWP.

So why am I writing about CS:GO you might be asking. Well DraftKings (not FanDuel) has decided to take a full dive into ESports and CS:GO is their latest offering that has taken off with contests offering prizes of $10k and $5k tomorrow. And that’s where I come in. To grab your hand and walk you across the road like an old lady, so grab my sweaty palms and deal with it, we have a slate to breakdown.

Match #1: FNC (-220) v OG (+170)

I watched FNC beat Astralis early this morning in what was a CLOSE match which you would think was dominated by Astralis based on the kill scores. And they kind of did with Fnatic relying heavily on early leads based on the opposing sides economy being shot early. If you don’t know what I mean by economy I basically mean the amount of money the team had to buy their weapons. When the economy is low, teams are forced to buy pistols and SMGs which can cause massive early leads such at the 7-1 Fnatic had on map 1.

But once the opposing teams economy caught up Fnatic had issues and basically only grabbed rounds thanks to the slip ups from Astralis. At the end of the day I really did not like what I saw out of Fnatic, whereas I loved what I saw out of OG today. OG played the #1 seeded team NaVi and had them on the ropes after winning map 1 and being up 13-5 in map 2. The issue was s1mple got going and NaVi regained their confidence going on to win the last 2 maps.

And they even had guys like mantuu who managed to finish with a positive KDA even with the poor play over the last 2 maps. Give me OG to pull off the upset over Fnatic as they have really picked things up after dropping games to VirtusPro and Faze which were really ugly losses.

DFS Plays: mantuu ($6,800), valde ($6,000)

Match #2: NaVi (-130) v mouz (even)

Baitcity, USA is where this match is being held. What I mean is NaVi should NOT be favored as mousesports has been on an absolute tear so far in the ESL Pro League with 4-straight 2-0 sweeps over the likes of OG, G2, Tyloo and VirtusPro.

Okay those last two teams suck but the first two do not suck at all and get mousesports isn’t done as I literally just watched them beat Faze 16-4 on their own map pick. NaVi on the other hand? They just barely beat OG 2-1 and they barely beat Astralis 2-1 the match before that which basically shows me that they have some weaknesses even though both of those teams are pretty solid.

But hey mousesports beat OG 2-0 so take that NaVi! Basically it’s going to be the ropz and frozen show, with woxic being a guest feature. Sure you could pay up for s1mple but due to the high price I’m going to have to recommend against it. Just give me a couple guys from mousesports and let’s call it a day.

DFS Plays: ropz ($8,800), frozen ($8,200), woxic ($7,800)

Match #3: Astralis (-180) v FaZe (+140)

I’m watching FaZe currently make a slight comeback and as always it’s on the back of the high-kill fragger named NiKo. Yes his price is high, but boy has he been impressive so far in the ESL Pro League with 91.0 DraftKings points per match so far!

He can easily be a building block of your lineup tomorrow although the price will make it somewhat tricky. But honestly just pair him with some players from OG and you’ll find that the $9k price tag really isn’t too bad. But wait, does that mean I’m touting FaZe over Astralis?

Well, yes it does good sir and let me explain why. Astralis just lost to Fnatic 2-1 and FaZe lost to Fnatic 2-1. So, this means that both of these teams are essentially even right? Haha not really but when we look at Astralis’s recent matches we notice that they’ve had 4 matches out of their last 5 which have gone to 3 games.

And if you plan on going 3 games with FaZe then you are likely planning on losing as the talent on this team is absolutely insane with NiKo, coldzera, rain and olofmeister teaming up with the young talent on broky. Give me FaZe all day as Astralis is a bit overhyped right now with their #2 world ranking.

DFS Plays: NiKo ($9,000), broky ($7,400) rain ($5,800)
