Daily Fantasy Barbershop: Home Of The Fade!! (Week 15)

Welcome back to the Barbershop!! When we guys walk into the shop, what is the most common haircut we ask for?? If you said a fade, you would be right. That’s what we specialize in at the Fantasy Barbershop!! We give all types of fades, from high to low. The one BIG difference you will notice is there aren’t any barbers here. The idea behind this shop is to educate you on the different styles of fades. Take a seat and look at the menu, please!!

The Menu: High fade ( a fade of a high priced guy, or high owned guy), Medium fade ( a guy in the mid-range), low fade (a chalky value play, or low priced guy)

In this article, there are going to be guys that turn out to smash or make the call look stupid because it is DFS after all. I’m not going to be perfect on these calls, but I like to take risks sometimes and make bold calls. It would be too easy to give the obvious guys to fade each week, by this way it is a different perspective on a situation that you may have not been looking at. I’m fully prepared to back my calls as well, whether it be good or bad.

High Fade– The high fade is a guy coming in around 10 percent ownership and a price tag of $9,000. It’s hard to put Dalvin Cook on a fade list this year, but this week I am. In the last matchup with the Bears, he had 30 carries and 4 targets and finished with 15.2 fantasy points. For his price tag that isn’t going to help you in GPP’s at all.

In his last five games, he would have failed to hit value 3 of the 5 at this price. While he is Dalvin and capable of BIG games at any time. The Bears are ranked 8th in FPPG allowed to RB’s at 16.1 per game, I just don’t like this spot for the price. If you’re paying up at RB it would be best to just find the extra $500 and get to Derrick Henry, or save the salary and go down to another back in a better spot.

Medium FadeDevante Parker- The pOWN (percent ownership) for Parker is around 8-10 percent. His price tag is $5,900 and while I have been a big Parker advocate, this week I got that feeling he falls flat (as long as healthy). If he doesn’t play then this was an obvious GREAT call (haha) but I will add another pick just in case, so it’s not that easy. The case for the fade is simple really.

If you’re wanting 3x or more then he’s only been above 17 points in three games this year. That doesn’t give me the confidence to play him in a matchup where the great coach on the other side has eaten rookie QB’s alive. We know the Patriots plan to take your number one option away and that is what Parker is. When you factor in his games where he has hit value or more, and the fact that Belichick is good at scheming to take the number one away, and against rookie QB’s, it makes for a bad day for the connection.

If those don’t scare you off then maybe this will, Stephon Gillmore. The matchup just seems bad all around and for those reasons I’m fully off Parker and the Dolphins’ offense.

Low Fade– Breshad Perriman– I will go back to the well, this is one call that worked out last week (we won’t talk about the others). The projection is that Perriman right now is around 10 percent ownership and the eighth-highest owned receiver on the slate. I just can’t go there and it’s as simple as two words, Jalen Ramsey.

There really isn’t much that needs to be said about it. When it comes to WR/CB matchups, sometimes I can overlook it if the talent and targets are there from a good QB. That isn’t the case for Perriman, he doesn’t have an elite QB throwing him the ball and Ramsey is the one CB I try to avoid at all cost.

Most receivers are in a fantasy wasteland in the matchup with Ramsey, and when he shuts guys down like DK Metcalf and others that are superior in talent to Perriman, it screams stay away. That is exactly what I plan to do, stay far away from this spot.

The Parker call could be too easy because of the injury and really the Perriman call looks easy as well, but I will add another name to make up for that. This one could prove me wrong but at this point, I’m confident in it.

Medium FadeRussell Wilson– His ownership is only around 5 percent right now, but his $7,300 price tag isn’t offering much in this spot. In the last five games, Russ has had 20 fantasy points or less in four of them. The Seahawks have tried to be balanced more on offense and lowering his passing attempts.

They’re determined to stay balanced and they have been able to, but over the last five games, they have gone from 34.3 PPG to 23.8 PPG. That is a drop in points per game of around 30-31 percent and almost two fewer TD’s per game. That has been a hit to his fantasy points per game, especially if those lost TD’s are coming at the expense of Russ.

The health of the O-line has been a concern and that isn’t a concern you want to have against a D-line as dominant as Washington’s. The play of Chase Young and the front seven of Washington is elite and has continued to make big plays every week. The pressure they bring and their ability to make those splash plays to stop drives should limit the ceiling for Russ.

The Washington defense is playing too good right now and I can see this being a lower scoring game. As good as Washington’s defense is playing, we will see if Seattle can be balanced or if they abandon the run. I see them abandoning the run and that will take the efficiency of those big play-action throws away some too.

It is possible that it falls on Russ and the passing game and he could have a good game, but for GPP it would be easier to pay $200 more for Lamar Jackson or save some on any of the guys in the mid $6,000 range.

Thanks for coming back for your weekly fades. The shop is always open, and to reach me to discuss any concerns or if you want to tell me how bad I missed on some fades, then my Twitter handle is @aaronbarnett221. I hope you enjoy the nice and clean fade work, I’m sure you will be back next week!!

I have been playing Fantasy leagues for 15 years, and have been playing DFS since DraftKings started in 2012. It wasn't until almost 5 years ago I really started using it as way to bring in consistent extra income, and have since been a cash game grinder for the most part. When it comes to DFS I don't discriminate, even though most my experience is in NFL and NBA, I do also play NCAAF, NCAAB, MLB, MMA, and played some LOL once the sports world shutdown at first. When I'm not doing anything sports related I like to spend time with my wife and 2 daughters, and go fishing.
