DFS CFL Best Player Values Draft Kings Week 13

It’s a Spooky Week 13 in the CFL. Halloween weekend brings a 4-game slate for Daily Fantasy Sports players on DraftKings. For my part, I do my best to provide the best CFL DFS prices on DK. Last week, some of the value plays hit, while a big pay up at WR got a big 0. Either way, it’s on to Week 13.

Quarterback

Cody Fajardo (SSK) $10,800 @ MTL

In all likelihood, Cody Fajardo should be the highest-priced QB in Week 13. He provides a rushing floor, and with a replenished WR room, you could have access to his ceiling this week. Most importantly for a QB above 10K$, there are several affordable stacking options (as we will see later in the Deep Dive section). However, since he is not the highest-priced option this week, he enters value territory.

Bo Levi Mitchell (CGY) $9,500 @ OTT

For anyone looking for one game to exploit, start with the Stampeders stack. That is because Calgary travels to Ottawa. The RedBlacks have struggled all season and I expect that to continue in Week 13. Defensively, Ottawa has allowed the most points per game, as well as the most scrimmage yards per play. More importantly for our purposes, the RedBlacks have surrendered the most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. While Bo Levi Mitchell has not shown much of a ceiling yet in 2021, he is coming off of a season-best 311-yard, 16.44 point fantasy performance. Maybe this is the week where he takes the next step.

Running Back

William Stanback (MTL) $10,300 vs SSK

The two highest-priced running backs this week are both playing in the same game. Both Montreal and Saskatchewan backs are worth paying up for. However, for a feature in this section of the article, I am going with the RB at home. I also look towards the teams’ respective passing game situations. As mentioned earlier, Roughriders QB Fajardo now has a full complement of receivers. In an attempt to create extra chemistry with the pass-catchers, I can see a scenario where Saskatchewan throws the ball a lot even in neutral or positive game scripts. Meanwhile, the Alouettes have their backup QB under center. And William Stanback is coming off of a season-best 203 rushing yard game. Look for Montreal to keep feeding him.

Montreal Gazette

Ka’Deem Carey (CGY) $9,200 @ OTT

Continuing the Calgary call-outs, KaDeem Carey is a great play this week. As mentioned in the QB section, the Ottawa defense has been vulnerable to all kinds of opposing production. One more statistic of futility, the RedBlacks have allowed the most rushing yards per game in the CFL this season. I think Carey can fit without stacking other Stampeders, but could also work in an overloaded Calgary lineup. If the Stampeders put up enough points, then Carey may be the biggest beneficiary.

Wide Receiver

Jake Wieneke (MTL) $8,900 vs SSK

The aforementioned 0 in the introduction. Last week, Jake Wieneke laid a goose egg as he failed to record a catch. This may scare people away from playing him Halloween weekend. That makes the perfect time to buy back in, when his rostership may be lower than usual. Wieneke is still the highest scoring WR in terms of fantasy points per game so he should not repeat last week’s lack of performance.

Ricky Collins Jr. (TOR) 8,300 vs BC

With a recent trade this week, Toronto sent a message of who would be the starting QB the rest of the season. With that clarity, perhaps Ricky Collins can truly emerge as the Argonauts alpha WR. With at least 6 catches and 88 receiving yards in three of the last four games, all that Collins is missing is touchdowns. If he can manage to find the end zone, he will unlock his true fantasy ceiling. This might be the week as BC has given up the 3rd most fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers.

Kamar Jorden (CGY) $7,500 @ OTT

If there is one play I want to stack with the Calgary QB, it’s Kamar Jorden. Back from injury, Jorden led the Stampeders in targets in his return. Healthy after that four-game absence, Jorden possesses an athletic alpha ability, unlike any other Calgary receiver. As mentioned earlier, the Stampeders is the offense I want to target the most this week. They could easily be the highest-scoring team, and as a result, Jorden will likely be my most rostered player this week.

R.J. Harris (OTT) $6,000 vs CGY

This is a play especially for those going all-in on the Calgary stack. In my opinion, the best run-it-back option off of Ottawa is RJ Harris. Regardless of who is the QB, Harris has a great receiver skill set that should fit any type of passer. He is a great route-runner at every level of the field and has arguably the best set of hands on the team.

Deep Dive

RB – Jackson Bennett (HAM) $2,500 @ EDM

This is one where you may have to wait-and-see. With injuries to Hamilton’s RB room, Jackson Bennett might be starting for the Tiger-Cats on Friday. If he does get the workhorse role, then Bennett will be arguably the best value on the slate at minimum price. Check the injury reports and final depth chart.

Update: Don Jackson is listed as the starting RB for Hamilton. Jackson is only $2,500 and may be the best value play on the entire slate.

WR – Duke Williams (SSK) $4,000 @ MTL

The Duke is back! D’haquille Williams has returned to the CFL. But instead of with Edmonton, Williams is now a member of the Roughriders. For most of the season, Saskatchewan has been searching for a receiver to make plays downfield. At least since Shaq Evans got hurt. Last week, Evans was activated and Williams made his 2021 debut. Evans caught 4-of-5 targets while Williams hauled in all 3 of his. However, Williams had double the yardage totals that Evans saw. The main difference between the two this week is their price. At less than half of Evans’ price, Williams is a great Deep Dive with upside.

Defense

Calgary Stampeders $5,300 @ OTT

Imagine that, another option from Calgary. Throughout this article, I have written about the defensive struggles for Ottawa. However, the offense is arguably much worse. They are last in most major offensive per-game categories, including points, first-downs, passing yards and total yards. This may be the week where Devlin Hodges gets his first career CFL start. While there is excitement about a former NFL QB starting for the RedBlacks, it would still be “Duck” Hodges first start in this league. And while he got some playing time last week, he was not overly impressive. More than anything else, the turnovers may be there for the Calgary defense.

BC Lions $4,000 @ TOR

This is not the week to pay down at defense, in my opinion. I believe that the top two options in terms of price are the best bets to produce fantasy points. However, if you are looking for a discount, I would point towards the BC Lions. One of the elements we chase with fantasy defenses is turnovers. As just mentioned, Ottawa’s offense is last in most major categories. However, there is one team with a higher turnover rate: Toronto. At exactly 4K$, the Lions won’t need too many big plays to pay off the price.
