MLB DFS Pitcher Chart & Lineup Advice – 7/28/2017

Top Plays
Alex Wood
If you’re looking for a safe pitcher, Wood is the guy. He has scored more than 23 DK points in eight of his last ten starts. He’ll face the Giants in Dodger Stadium and is the biggest favorite on the slate. The Giants rank 26th in wRC+ against lefties and Wood has the lowest OTT on the slate. Due to his high price and low pitch count, I’m not sure Alex Wood has the upside to pay off his price in tournaments, but it’s difficult to find a safer option for cash games.
Jose Quintana
Quintana is my favorite pitching option on the slate. He’ll face the Brewers in Miller Park and while he has an OTT of four, the Brewers 26.5% strikeout rate is more than enough to make up for giving up a few runs. Since joining the Cubs, Quintana has become a much more intriguing option. He now has a great defense behind him, and faces a pitcher instead of a DH. Quintana is priced too low at $9,800 and has incredible upside given his price. He’s my favorite cash game option and also my favorite tournament option.
Freddie Freeman/Matt Kemp
The first bat in my lineup today is Freddie Freeman. He’s priced too cheap at $4,600 and will occupy my third base spot. He’ll have the platoon advantage against Jeremy Hellickson. Hellickson has struggled this season, yielding 1.76 HR/9 and a 5.30 SIERA. Matt Kemp is the best value on my team today. He’s been cold, but he’s priced too cheap almost every day. For this reason, I’ve been selective, choosing him in only the best matchups, but this is one of them. I’m also considering Tyler Flowers as my catcher, but may end up on Russell Martin for a few hundred dollars less.
Mike Trout
Trout is the top overall option against J.A. Happ. He’ll have the platoon advantage against Happ and gets a huge park upgrade. He’s priced high, but I’m able to fit him due to Quintana’s low price. The Angels have a team run total of five, and Trout should be a big part of that total. I’m not locking him into my lineups simply because there are a few other high priced bats I like, but Trout is one of the top plays cash games.
Notes
Troy Tulowitzski is too cheap and is a lock in cash games at $2,700 against Parker Bridwell.
Chris Davis has a top 5 home run projection on the slate and is a near lock at $3,800 in cash games.
Danny Salazar is a solid alternative to Alex Wood in cash games and tournaments. He’s not as safe, but pairing him with Quintana opens up more salary and allows for even more upside.
