DFS NBA DraftKings Lineup Advice 1/19/2021

Another Tuesday and another NBA DFS DraftKings lineup advice article from Goingfor2! We only have a two game slate to breakdown so I will do my best to write up a few contrarian plays and get off the chalk some what.

Be sure to stay tuned in up until lock, you know things in the NBA can change by the minute, especially nowadays. Before we get into both games be sure to give me and goingfor2.com a follow on Twitter @ev_ritt3 @GoingFor_2

Lets go ahead and dive in…

Top Play | Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (OKC) $8,700 @ DEN

It’s going to be hard to get away SGA on a two-game slate and I don’t think you’ll need to. He’s averaging 38.6 points a game with a usage rate of 25.6% while maintaining a true shooting percentage of 61.4% this season, all career highs. Obviously, in tournaments, you can take chances fading him with the price increase, but SGA has the ball in his hands way too much to fade him on a two gamer in my opinion. He projects well and most likely will end up optimal even with the increased salary. I’ll find other ways to get different.

Mid-tier | Jamal Murray (DEN) $7,300 @ OKC

Last game Murray logged 42 minutes against the Utah Jazz which he dropped 30 real points and went for 46.3 fantasy points. That was one of his best outings of the season and instead of his price rising, we got a $100 discount. I love the matchup against the Thunder and I will be going right back to the well with the hopes of Murray staying hot at a great price point. Murray may also be a good pivot off the likely chalky SGA so be sure to pay attention to ownership percentages as they will be key to finding leverage tomorrow night.

Value | PJ Dozier (DEN) $3,900 @ OKC

Dozier came through for me last slate in a couple of my cash lineups going for 27.5 points at $3,700 in which he averaged a fantasy point per minute. I’ll take a few shots on him again in tomorrow’s slate where value at this point looks to be slim to none. The Nuggets are -9.5 point favorites so there’s potential for a blowout which would only increase Dozier’s time on the floor.

Fade | Donovan Mitchell $8,200 (UTA) @ NO

Spider Mitchell’s stats are down across the board so far this season. Last year he averaged 49 fantasy points per game, this year so far he’s only averaging 38. His rebounding and shooting percentage are down as well so until his price comes down below 8K I’m comfortable fading him, especially tomorrow.

NBA DFS DraftKings Lineup Advice 1/19/2021

Top Play | Zion Williamson (NO) $7,900 @ UTA

I love the price we’re getting Zion at in this spot. I’ll be playing a lot more of him at a cheaper price rather than paying up for his counterpart Brandon Ingram at $9,100. Williamson is coming off his second 30 point plus game of the season and he’s continuing to get almost 35 minutes a game. Zion will find his way into a lot of my lineups.

Mid-tier | Luguentz Dort $5,100 (OKC) @ DEN

Dort just put up his best game of the season so far putting up 21 real points and 46.5 fantasy points. Yeah, it took him 40 minutes to get there and his price has increased a thousand dollars but I’m fine with it due to the lack of options. Dort’s stats are up significantly this year and with a true shooting percentage of 61.4% he has the ability to catch fire at any time throughout the game.

Value | Isaiah Roby $4,100 (OKC) @ DEN

With Al Horford (Personal) continuing to be out and no timetable to return Roby continues to start in his place. Isaiah Roby is a fantasy point per minute player so far this season and he could be sneaky on tomorrows slate. Obviously, everyone’s ownership will be up some on a two-game slate but I think he’s one of the best value plays tomorrow. He draws a tough matchup against the Joker but I don’t think this one stays close so Roby could see a good amount of garbage run but, fantasy points are fantasy points no matter where they come from.

Fade | Will Barton $5,700 (DEN) @ OKC

The only games Barton has been viable in are ones where he gets over 30 minutes a game and even then he just barely gets there. He’s coming off a terrible performance where he only put up 2 points in 26 mins against Utah. At his salary and projected minutes I don’t think you’ll need Barton tomorrow in-order to be optimal.

Centers

NBA DFS DraftKings Lineup Advice 1/19/2021

Top Play | Nikola Jokic $11,000 (DEN) @ OKC

In the Joker’s last 3 games, he has put up 67.0, 64.5, and 72.0 fantasy points on DraftKings. If he’s not in the optimal lineup tomorrow and you’re the one who was crazy enough to fade him then congratulations, you most likely won yourself a GPP. I just don’t see how you get away from him on tomorrow’s slate. Even if Denver does blow the Thunder out like I expect they will, it’s most likely because Jokic had another one of his 60 point fantasy games. Play Nikola Jokic tomorrow and don’t get cute.

Mid-tier | Rudy Gobert $7,600 (UTA) @ NO

Gobert’s price has actually gone down $200 after logging back to back double-doubles so I will definitely be giving him some looks on a two-game slate. He’s averaging 30.4 minutes per game while putting up 1.2 fantasy points per minute so far this year. He doesn’t have the easiest of matchups tomorrow having to bang around down low against New Orleans Pelican’s big man Steven Adams but I don’t think Gobert will have any problem returning our investment at a middling $7,600.

Value | Mike Muscala $3,400

This is solely a dart throw for a GPP and the fact that on a two-game slate you’re going to have to take some uncomfortable shots in the dark in order to get different. Muscala did play 27 minutes against Chicago last game and put up 21.0 fantasy points so if he’s able to match or eclipse that production at $3,400 your lineup will be in good shape. Not to mention the cheap price tag gives you some nice salary relief, allowing you to plug-in multiple studs.

Fade | Derrick Favors $3,800

Favors just isn’t getting enough minutes and doesn’t produce at a high enough clip with the 15-20 minutes of playing time he does get. Don’t get me wrong, on a two-game slate you have to broaden your player pool but Favors is safe to leave out.

Steven Adams $6,100 NO

That will wrap up my plays for tomorrow’s two-game NBA DFS DraftKings slate. Remember these are just the plays I like at first look. Make sure you pay attention up until lock for start/sit news and pivot accordingly.
