Guards

NBA DFS DraftKings 8/1/2020

Nothing But Net | Jrue Holiday (NOP) $8,200 @ LAC

Holiday had a season-high 36 NBA points against the Clippers early this year, and he is going to need to shoulder the load in this game with Zion Williamson still playing limited minutes. After losing to the Jazz in the first game of this restart, the Pelicans have to win this game if they hope to make the playoffs. The Clippers are a tough matchup and they are coming off a heartbreaking loss as well, but as the veteran leader on this team, look for Holiday to step up his game.

Dunk | Reggie Jackson (LAC) $4,100 vs. NOP

Jackson’s price is a little cheaper than my normal “Dunk” would be, but with Lou Williams still out, he will be asked to play 30-plus minutes again in this game. The Pelicans are the worst team in points allowed to point guards of all the teams in the restart. The Pelicans play at such a breakneck pace, that an inexpensive player like Jackson would have to try to not score fantasy points against them.

Half-Court Shot | Monte Morris (DEN) $3,500 vs. MIA

Morris could be the benefactor of three Nugget guards missing this game. Will Barton and Gary Harris are already both out, but Jamal Murray is also listed as questionable with a hamstring injury. Even if Murray plays, Morris will get plenty of minutes spelling Murray. If Murray is indeed ruled out, Morris is a free square at $3.5k.

Blocked Shot | Lebron James (LAL) $10,900 @ TOR

Okay, if you’re playing multi-entries, you can’t truly fade James, but after he underperformed by DFS standards on Thursday, DraftKings raised his price $200. I know it’s based somewhat on matchups, but the Raptors are no slouch on defense either. If you’re only playing a few lineups, I wouldn’t spend up for James.

Nothing But Net | Kawhi Leonard (LAC) $8,900 vs. NO

I like all of the Clippers players in this game. The Pels aren’t a team that is going to stop you from scoring, they are just going to try to score more than you. In another curious pricing change, Leonard’s price went down after putting up nearly 46 on the Lakers despite sitting a good portion of the first half due to foul trouble.

Dunk | Brandon Ingram (NO) $7,800 @ LAC

With a limited Zion, BI and Holiday are going to have to shoulder the load in this game. Ingram was on pace for a monster game against the Jazz before they finally slowed him down. His priced dropped $500, mostly due to the matchups he is bound to face with Leonard and Paul George likely sharing duties, but volume alone makes Ingram worth the price.

Half-Court Shot | Kyle Kuzma (LAL) $4,300 @ TOR

Once again, DraftKings pricing seems to do the opposite of what you would expect. Kuzma had a great game Thursday and put up 31.3 DK points, so what does DraftKings do? Lower his price to $4,300. For what it’s worth, Kuz had 15-and-5 in the only matchup against the Raptors this season, which doesn’t seem like a lot until you realize he did that in 24 minutes. If he gets the 32 minutes he got against the Clippers, he will crush value.

Blocked Shot | Zion Williamson (NOP) $7,500 @ LAC

This is an easy fade as he is expected to have his minutes limited again. It seems the Pelicans don’t even want to make the playoffs, they are content with limiting Zion and saving him for next season.

Centers

Nothing But Net | Joel Embiid (PHI) $9,700 @ IND

For Embiid and the Sixers, the shutdown couldn’t have come at a better time. They weren’t having their best season, but this restart can now be treated as a new season for them, starting with their big man, Embiid. In his last game before the shutdown, Embiid put up 54.5 DK points and was priced at $10,500. Now priced at $9,700, he could be a steal.

Dunk | Myles Turner (IND) $6,200 vs. PHI

With Domantas Sabonis ruled out, Turner will have to pick up some of the offensive slack. Turner had a solid stretch of games before the shutdown. Turner will rarely give you that huge ceiling game, but he also rarely gives you that low floor game either. Plug him in and he will get you a solid 35-to-40 DK points.

Half-Court Shot | Bol Bol (DEN) $3,000 vs. MIA

Cause why not? At $3,000, Bol is worth a shot. He looked great in the two exhibition games leading up to the start of the season. I have no idea what his role will be, how many minutes he will get or if he will even see the floor, but at $3,000…why not?

Blocked Shot | Anthony Davis (LAL) $10,400 @ TOR

Much like Lebron James, you can’t truly fade Davis if you’re playing multi lineups, but I just don’t see the upside in this game for the Brow. The Raptors are a good defensive team and they don’t allow a lot of fantasy points to PF/C positions. I expect Davis to be “fine”, but “fine” isn’t winning you a tournament.
