Guards

DFS NBA DraftKings Lineup 8/2/2020

Nothing But Net | Luka Doncic (DAL) $10,800 @ PHO

This game has the second highest over/under on this six-game slate, with the Rockets/Bucks game the only game expected to have more points scored. Doncic had a triple-double against Houston, and, unfortunately, nearly had a quadruple-double with eight turnovers. This aren’t your Daddy’s Mavs, they want to push the ball and score. They are second in the league in 3-pointers taken and Doncic is in the center of that. His price tag will make it tough to fit another stud in, but it’s doable.

Dunk | Devin Booker (PHO) $8,600 vs. DAL

From that same game, Booker is a great option at sub-9k. He put up nearly 40 against Washington and his priced dropped $200. The Mavs are not the Wizards, however, and Booker will have to do a lot more in this high-scoring game to keep pace with the Mavs.

Half-Court Shot | Ish Smith (WAS) $3,800 @ BKN

While everyone is chasing the Trey 47.3 DK points, give me the guy that had a solid game and is not an outlier performance. Smith, despite not starting, played more minutes and had more fantasy points than did his backcourt mate Shabazz Napier — yet Napier is still priced at $5,400. In fact, Smith’s price went down!

Blocked Shot | Kemba Walker (BOS) $6,900 vs. POR

This is a cop-out pick. Walker isn’t ready to play his full allotment of minutes, and until he is I don’t feel comfortable starting him. Yes, that’s not exactly hard hitting information to fade Walker, but I like so many of these guards, it was hard to pick one I didn’t like.

Forwards

DFS NBA DraftKings Lineup 8/2/2020

Nothing But Net | Giannis Antetokounmpo (MIL) $11,000 @ HOU

I’ll keep this simple. He scored 70 DK points Friday night…in 32 minutes. The Rockets and the Bucks both average 118.7 points per game, tied for first in the league. Points will be scored in this game and there will be a ton of shots taken, the Freak could have a 30/20 game…30-plus points and 20-plus rebounds.

Dunk | DeMar DeRozan (SA) $7,600 @ MEM

DeRozan is one of the most unappreciated players in, not only the NBA, but in DFS. Over his last four games, including the first game of their startup season, DeDe has scored 41 or more DK points. Some people still see the Grizzlies as a defensive team and one to avoid playing against, but they are middle of the road defensively and allow the fourth-most points to shooting guards. DeRozan won’t get you 60, but he won’t get you 20 either.

Half-Court Shot | Danuel House Jr. (HOU) $4,400 vs. MIL

It took him 43 minutes to score 34.3 DK points, which isn’t exactly lighting up the score sheet, but the fact he played that many minutes means he will likely be in for a heavy workload once again with Eric Gordon ruled out. His price isn’t quite s attractive as it was the other night, but still cheap enough to be a great chalk value.

Blocked Shot | Aaron Gordon (ORL) $7,500 vs. SAC

I should have heeded my own advice and faded all Magic players the other night. No Magic player played over 27 minutes, and if you aren’t on the floor, you can’t score points. Until the Magic shorten their rotation, I won’t be playing any of them.

Centers

DFS NBA DraftKings Lineup 8/2/2020

Nothing But Net | Kristaps Porzingis (DAL) $9,000 @ PHO

On the telecast during their last game they discussed how every coach has wanted Zingis to bulk up to handle the rigors of an NBA big-man. So, during quarantine, you want to know what he did? He completely ignored them and lost a bunch of weight, and he says he feels so much better. His shot feels better, he is quicker on his feet, and he just overall feels better. Well, after dropping 70 DK points on the Rockets, I will side with The Unicorn on this one.

Dunk | Jusuf Nurkic (POR) $7,700 @ BOS

I definitely did not see 33-plus minutes for Nurkic in his first real game action since his injury last season. But, that’s exactly what he did and he dropped 50 DK points in the process. Boston is a tough defense, but if there is a spot they struggle defending, it’s the rare “true center” in this league — like Nurk.

Half-Court Shot | Daniel Theis (BOS) $5,100 vs. POR

The size of the Trailblazers, with Whiteside and Nurkic, will force Theis into some heavy minutes. He played 32 minutes last game and dropped 38 DK points. For his efforts, DraftKings only raised his price by $100.

Blocked Shot | Nikola Vucevic (ORL) $8,700 vs. SAC

Fading all Magic players. See Aaron Gordon
