DFS NBA Fanduel Lineup Advice 2/1/19

DFS NBA Fanduel Lineup Advice 2/1/19

Hello, fellow DFS degens. It’s been a very a interesting season to say the least and last night was no different. We saw a DAL/DET game that didn’t even crack 175 total points. We saw Ross explode for 30. And worst of all, Jimmy “Gets [No] Buckets” Butler, finished with just 7 real points. Nevertheless, DFS is about short term memory. It’s a new day and a new slate and that means more contests to be a part of. We got a nice 5 game slate tonight so let’s get right to it. Obvious plays like Russell Westbrook and James Harden will not be mentioned as they can be played on any slate.

Point Guard

Kemba Walker – $8,600 vs MEM

I hate that I’m even writing his name down but this is a relatively decent spot for him. I only ever consider him at home so at least he’s got that going for him. At the time of writing, the spread for this game is at 4 so the game figures to be fairly competitive. Although a matchup against the Grizzlies isn’t exactly ideal, the PG position is a position you can attack them with from time to time. Mike Conley is also listed as questionable for this game so if we get news before lock that he’s ruled out, I’d like Kemba even more. Be warned, he doesn’t exactly consistently provide the peripherals we need but he should go lower owned and could go for 40. He’s strictly a GPP play.

Ricky Rubio – $6,400 vs ATL

This play should be a lot easier to digest. He has been all over the place since his return but if there’s any spot to right the train, it’s this game. Rubio being at home is the first plus. Second, ATL has allowed the most assists per game in the league. ATL has also been the friendliest matchup for opposing PGs this season (51.68 per game). Oh, and did I mention that ATL plays at the fastest pace in the league? He typically plays better on the road but matchup, minutes, and usage are all there for the Spaniard. He makes for an excellent play in all formats.

Bonus: There’s not much else in terms of obvious plays. Trae Young is another possible option as he’s been a pretty consistent option. If you wish to dig for value, look to Shelvin Mack at minimum price against Charlotte if Conley is ruled out. Kemba hasn’t ever been known to play defense and Mack would be in a spot to hit 20 or more. Another sneaky pick could be Kadeem Allen from the Knicks. I wouldn’t blame you for not knowing him but he’s played minutes in the high teens for consecutive games now and with yesterday’s blockbuster occurring, they might be especially shorthanded. Allen could be the sub 5% player that hits 7x tomorrow. He’s definitely worth a shot in your lines.

Shooting Guards

Donovan Mitchell – $8,800 vs ATL

The spread in this game might scare some people off but one of the main rules of DFS is to target players against ATL. This night is no different. On a night where he returns home and gets a matchup against the Hawks, we find him back under $9k. Oh and happy coincidence, ATL has also been the friendliest matchup for opposing SGs this season, giving up an average of 44.62 a game. You either pay up at the position today or pay down but Mitchell’s spot makes him pretty hard to fade.

Eric Gordon – $5,300 @ DEN

This game without a doubt is gonna be the best of the night so it figures that you should get some decent exposure. Even with Chris Paul back in the picture, Gordon has remained in the starting lineup and has continued chucking up shots. Denver is a good overall defense but they’ve slipped in the one category that Eric Gordon lives for – 3 pointers made. Once top 10 in that category, the Nuggets are now 12th and recently just allowed 15 to the Pelicans. Imagine how many can drop for a team like the Rockets. I typically don’t roster Gordon but this is a good spot to jump on him. He makes for a great cash play and a decent GPP option.

Allonzo Trier – $4,000 vs BOS

I like this play too much to put him under “Other.” With New York figuring to be shorthanded tomorrow, that leaves the rotation very tight, as was the case for Dallas yesterday. Taking DSJ, THJ, Matthews, and Lee out of the equation, with Mudiay and Ntilikina both injured, that leaves Allen, Trier, and Dotson as the only guards available. Trier has recently proven to be one of the bright spots for the Knicks in the 2nd half of the season and they may need to lean on him here. He’s already been receiving a steady 20 minutes game but that number should increase. He’s a very strong GPP play.

Other options – Malik Beasley/Monte Morris, Damyean Dotson

Small Forwards

Justise Winslow/Josh Richardson – $6,600/6,500 vs OKC

I’d be lying if I said I was thrilled with these plays but the position is pretty barren today outside of PG13. Both Winslow and Richardson have been playing a steady 30 minutes while providing a steady 30ish pts a game. The game is being played on their home court though and OKC defense has fallen after a strong start. This game might be more competitive than people may think but definitely not enough to stack, at least not for me. Both are solid cash options.

Kyle Anderson – $5,600 @ CHA

Slo-Mo is generally as exciting of a play as his nickname but he’s one of the more all around guys there is for fantasy. He scores enough to be useful, rebounds, and plays good defense. CHA is a team we can always look to attack and this is also a pace up game for Memphis. This price is just about the right price for his current production and he should be able to hit value.

*With Kyle Anderson ruled out, that leaves MEM incredibly thin at all positions. From past rotations, I expect Jevon Carter to start and Justin Holiday to see an increased role.

Other options – Joe Ingles, Jae Crowder, Bruno Caboclo, Mario Hezonja

Power Forwards

Jerami Grant – $6,000 @ MIA

Grant is one of my most favorite guys to use in DFS. He plays a massive amount of minutes and is always around the same price. He can produce even in tough matchups with his defensive peripherals. This game figures to cater to his playing style where he can grab some boards and rack up defensive stats against a weaker MIA frontcourt. Lock him into your cash games and watch the green come in.

Derrick Favors – $5,300 vs ATL

Whaddya know? Another position and ATL once again takes the crown as the friendliest matchup for the opposing team (50.59). There’s not much else to say here that hasn’t been said. Target players against the Hawks. ‘Nough said.

Other options – Kenneth Faried (revenge), Marcus Morris, P.J. Tucker

Centers

Al Horford – $7,900 @ NY

Big Al has been on an absolute tear recently. He’s posted double-doubles in 3 of his last 4 games, averaging 16.5 PPG, 10.8 RPG, 4.3 APG, and 3.3 BPG. I don’t see any reason why he can’t continue that in a matchup against the Knicks. Their only bigs are Vonleh and Robinson, neither of whom scare me. It also doesn’t hurt that NY is tied for 2nd in the league in blocks against. Lock in Horford while he’s still sub $8k. He’ll be feasting on the Big Apple.

Mitchell Robinson – $5,000 vs BOS

With Fiz doing Fiz things with Kanter, the rookie has been receiving ample amounts of playing time off the bench. At $5k, he’s been pretty close to value, if not already, and is a terrific PPM producer thanks to his blocks. Unfortunately, Boston doesn’t get blocked all that often but I’m hoping the times they do get blocked, it’s by Robinson against a smaller Boston bench frontcourt. Foul trouble may be an option but BOS is bottom 5 in drawing fouls on opponents so it should be a bit safer for Robinson. He’s a solid option in GPPs.

Other options – Marc Gasol, Hassan Whiteside, Dewayne Dedmon, Alex Len
