DFS NFL FanDuel Lineup Advice Wildcard Weekend (1/7-1/8)

Welcome to the Wild Card Weekend edition of the NFL DFS FanDuel GPP plays. This article will focus on the main slate on FanDuel, which features four games this week. Just as a reminder, this article is not meant to be an actual FanDuel GPP lineup, but rather an article focusing on some good stand alone options for your GPP lineup. Let’s go ahead and take a look at my favorite GPP options for Wild Card Weekend.

NFL DFS FanDuel GPP Plays for Wild Card Weekend

DailyFantasyNerd FanDuel GPP Play of the Day

Doug Baldwin (SEA) vs. DET $6,900
Doug Baldwin is a great upside stacking option with Russell Wilson. We have seen Baldwin explode for huge games down the stretch the last couple of years and he has a great matchup this weekend against the Lions. Darius Slay had an outstanding season as the Lions’ best cornerback this season. However, I cannot see him shadowing Baldwin since Slay does not travel to the slot much to cover opposing receivers. Also,  I imagine most people will likely use Brown, Beckham and then going cheap with their third receiver. If that is the case, Baldwin should come in at pretty low ownership this weekend.

Quarterback

Russell Wilson (SEA) vs. DET $7,700
I think the best way to go for GPPs this week is to save a little bit at quarterback and use the extra salary to spend elsewhere. Russell Wilson gets a dream matchup this weekend against the Lions, who rank dead last in DVOA pass defense this season. Since the running game is a mess right now in Seattle, I could really see Wilson shouldering the offense and perhaps getting a boost in rushing attempts.

Ben Roethlisberger (PIT) vs. MIA $8,500
If you decide to not use Wilson, do not get cute and drop down to any of the cheaper options this weekend. Instead go up to Ben Roethlisberger, who should be lower owned than Aaron Rodgers. Big Ben has been amazing at Heinz Field during his career and he should have no problem dealing with the Dolphins’ defense, who have been terrible against the pass this season.

Running Backs

Le’Veon Bell  (PIT) vs. MIA $10,300
Unless you are entering 100 lineups into a multi-entry GPP, it is not a wise contrarian move to have a lineup this week that does not feature Le’Veon Bell. Bell is by far the best option at a position that really does not have many great options to choose from. He is going to be popular, but that is okay. Pick another spot to differentiate yourself from the pack.

DeAndre Washington (OAK) @ HOU $4,500
Speaking of being different, consider using DeAndre Washington as a contrarian option. Many people will likely be using Bell and one of the mid-tier options at running back, but I’m really not high on guys like Lamar Miller and Jay Ajayi. Therefore, I’m going to punt at the second running back spot and use the extra salary to pay up at wide receiver and tight end. Washington was more involved last weekend against the Broncos with nine touches. I imagine that the Raiders will want to limit the amount of passing attempts from Connor Cook, so expect them to use a heavy rushing attack.

Wide Receivers

Odell Beckham Jr. (NYG) @ GB  $8,900
Odell Beckham is another player who  I have a hard time fading on this slate, despite the high ownership. No matter how you look at this game, Beckham is primed for a huge game. If the Giants win, it’s probably because Beckham did really well. If the Giants are trailing, Beckham is going to be the primary focus for the Giants to get back in the game. Outside of an injury, I do not see how Beckham does not demolish this awful Packers’ secondary.

Golden Tate (DET) @ SEA $6,100
If you decide to not use the Seattle defense this week, consider using Golden Tate as a contrarian option this weekend. He has the narrative working for him this week since he used to play for the Seahawks. Also, the Seahawks have not been nearly as great in the secondary as they have in the past.

Kenny Stills (MIA) @ PIT $5,000
Another wide receiver who will likely fly under the radar is Kenny Stills. Most people will probably flock to Sterling Shepard at a similar salary or use Jarvis Landry if they are using a Dolphins receiver. However, in the past three games that Matt Moore has started Kenny Stills has done pretty well with a touchdown in each game and a total of 18 targets. Both Dolphins’ receivers are in a good spot against an average Steelers’ secondary and I would much rather take Stills at a nice discount and a lower ownership percentage.

Tight End

Jimmy Graham (SEA) vs. DET $6,600
Jimmy Graham will likely be the most popular tight end this week. However, I do not believe it will be by a landslide since I anticipate a lot of people paying up at  quarterback for either Rodgers or Roethlisberger. Graham is by far the best option at tight end this weekend when you take a look at the other options in the other games. Graham should have a field day against a defense that struggles against the pass and I do not mind at all stacking both Baldwin and Graham with Wilson.

Defense

Seahawks (SEA) vs. DET $5,100
I believe that the Seahawks’ defense is the best option this weekend and I do not believe they will carry as much ownership as the Texans’ defense. Even though the Seahawks’ defense is not as elite as it has been over the past few years, it is still a pretty good one at home with their 12th Man. Matthew Stafford’s throwing hand is clearly not 100% and I really think that could potentially cost him a couple of turnovers while the Lions are playing catch up.
