DFS NFL Yahoo Week 11

Week 11 is a great time to get into Yahoo’s DFS format. For those who have been reading my previous articles, you’ll know that I attempt to point out the best player price value on Yahoo’s Sunday slate.

For roster and scoring settings, check out my Week 1 article.

Home and Dome

There are a few elements that I look at in order to find the most desired matchups. There is what I call Home and Dome, teams that are playing at home with an indoor stadium. Wind can be a factor that can negatively impact passing offenses and being indoors takes that element away. There are six teams that play Home and Dome in the Week 11 Sunday Slate:

Houston Texans vs New England Patriots

Indianapolis Colts vs Green Bay Packers

Las Vegas Raiders vs Kansas City Chiefs

Los Angeles Chargers vs New York Jets

Minnesota Vikings vs Dallas Cowboys

New Orleans Saints vs Atlanta Falcons

Quarterback

Justin Herbert (LAC) $35 vs NYJ

Looking at the top of the quarterback price list, the first two names really stand out. Both players are in a position to put up a lot of points. But looking at the value, as always, my recommendation is to save $4 and select Justin Herbert over Patrick Mahomes. They are the two highest-scoring quarterbacks on the slate in terms of points per game. While I do not always pay up at the passing position, there are only a handful of good value plays below Herbert.

Cam Newton (NE) $27 @ HOU

I would argue the next two best plays after Herbert are both playing in the Patriots-Texans game. With 49 points as a combined over/under, it is one of the five highest projected scoring games on the slate. Deshaun Watson is a fine value at $31, but even lower at the position, there is a great play. The risk behind Cam Newton is that Houston has only allowed 1 rushing TD from a quarterback this season. However, I would argue that few, if any signal-callers possess Newton’s upside as a Red Zone and goal-line runner. If he can throw against the Texans’ secondary, in a dome, then all the better for his ceiling.

More Value: Derek Carr (LV) $25

Running Back

Nick Chubb (CLE) $28 vs PHI

It is mighty tempting to pay all the way for the most expensive player on the slate overall. I certainly cannot fault anyone for putting Dalvin Cook in their lineups, even at $40. However, I believe a great alternative exists in the form of Nick Chubb. While the Eagles have allowed the 9th fewest rushing yards per game to running backs in 2020, they are also one of only seven teams to allow a TD allow game on average. None of the names that have scored on the ground against Philadelphia is anything special. Certainly not when compared to Chubb. Even his teammate Kareem Hunt is a fine play at $21.

Mike Davis (CAR) $20 vs DET

This Lions-Panthers matchup, features two teams in the top four of most fantasy points allowed to running backs. Including Detroit who has been the worst fantasy run defense in 2020. This makes Mike Davis a great play at only $20. While the quarterback situation is risky, that could also potentially mean more targets out of the backfield for Davis. Needles to say, there are potentially a couple of backs to targets in this game (more on that later).

More Value: Nyheim Hines (IND) $19

Wide Receiver

Keenan Allen (LAC) $25 vs NYJ

As one of the heaviest favorites this week (-9 vs the Jets), the Chargers are a team that I want to stack often. I already mentioned going after the quarterback, so it’s only natural to go after his top target as well. This is the second week in a row that I selected Keenan Allen in this section. With a price tag that actually went down from Week 10, Allen in a Home and Dome matchup seems like a lock at $25.

Diontae Johnson (PIT) $18 @ JAX

One thing we can say is that Diontae Johnson is consistent. He is either on the field producing, or he is injured. In five fully healthy games this season, Johnson has double-digit targets in all of them. It is certainly an impressive receiver corps in Pittsburgh. This week, Johnson is the least expensive of the top three, so he appears to be the best play. Much like the Chargers with Allen, I’m buying into Johnson’s Steelers as 10.5 favorites.

DeVante Parker (MIA) $17 @ DEN

Yet another player that I recommended last week. Much like Allen, DeVante Parker remains consistent in price here in Week 11. While it was a disappointing fantasy day for Parker, but he still has 7 targets in each of the last two games. He may still be adjusting to his new quarterback, but Parker is the clear alpha in the Dolphins’ offense.

More Value: Tee Higgins (CIN) $17

Tight End

Hunter Henry (LAC) $17 vs NYJ

This week we have a clear preferred position price point at tight end. For $17 there are several clear targets, starting with Hunter Henry. His production has not been the most consistent, but his targets certainly have been. Henry has at least 6 targets in 7 of 9 games played this season.

Hayden Hurst (ATL) $17 @ NO

Staying at $17, Hayden Hurst presents tremendous upside in this week’s matchup. The Saints have allowed the 6th most fantasy points per game to tight ends in Yahoo’s format. This has remained fairly consistent all season. Hurst himself has received at 7 targets in each of the last three games. Yes, Calvin Ridley’s return looms large, but I believe Hurst will remain a key piece of the Falcons offense this week.

More Value: Dalton Schultz (DAL) $11

Deep Dive

RB – Kerryon Johnson (DET) $10 @ CAR

With the news that D’Andre Swift will miss Week 11, it is time to take advantage of the early week pricing. While Adrian Peterson could also be considered a value at $14, I prefer the pass-cathing upside of Kerryon Johnson for the minimum $10. Peterson’s advantage is with the TD upside since he leads the Lions in total Red Zone opportunities. However, this Johnson has also received rushing attempts for inside the 5-yard line, so we could easily score as well.

WR – Henry Ruggs (LV) $11 vs KC

The first-round rookie and not been a consistent fantasy producer at all this season. However, one element playing in Henry Ruggs’ favor this week is that he had his only 100-yard game and only TD of 2020 against the Chiefs. This Sunday Night game has the chance to be an explosive event. Ruggs offers an inexpensive way to get in on the action.

Defense

Los Angeles Chargers $16 vs NYJ

Yet another Chargers asset in the stack. Perhaps this is a respect for the Jets veteran quarterback starting this week. Or perhaps lack of faith in the Chargers defense itself. Either way, the defensive unit playing the Jets is usually much higher than $16. With this slight discount, I will take the plunge and take the Chargers.

Atlanta Falcons $10 @ NO

This is purely a tournament play. If nothing else, the Falcons represent a chance to take advantage of some quarterback uncertainty in New Orleans. There are far worse choices to make for a minimum priced defense. Especially when paying up at key positions this week.
