DFS Yahoo Best Value Player Prices NFL Week 5 (10/10)

Quarterback

Joe Burrow (CIN) $29 vs GB

Jared Goff (LAR) $28 @ MIN

Joe Burrow and Jared Goff are great QB plays this week at under $30. Both quarterbacks are former 1st-overall selections in the NFL Draft. And both face some relatively favorable matchups. For Burrow, he is facing a Packers defense that could be without their top two cornerbacks. With the weapons at his disposal, especially at WR, Burrow could challenge even this highest-scoring signal-callers this week.

As for Goff, he is going up against a Vikings defense that has allowed the 11th most passing yards in the league. Now, they are near the bottom of the league in yards on the ground surrendered to quarterbacks. But with only 72 rushing yards on the season, that aspect is not a big part of Goff’s game. After this price range, the upside gets more difficult to see for quarterbacks. Burrow and Goff are in a perfect range of a value price with a high ceiling.

Running Back

Nick Chubb (CLE) $28 vs LAC

The Browns have scored the most rushing touchdowns from inside the 5-yard line. Now, that is not always Nick Chubb who has been held out of the end zone for two consecutive games. I doubt he makes it to three matches in a row without a TD. Even so, Chubb has not been producing complete duds as he has run for at least 83 yards on the ground in every game this season. He always has a chance to break off a long score but also gets enough of the important opportunities. Chubb currently leads the Browns in red-zone rushing attempts and carries from inside the 5-yard line. Chubb is due.

James Robinson (JAX) $26 vs TEN

There are a few resources that I like to use to make my DFS decisions. One of those sources is my own invention, the Goal-Line Guide. I created that as an attempt to better predict touchdown production. For Week 5, the Jaguars have the highest Goal-Line Grade among all NFL rushing attacks. That bodes well for James Robinson who has the majority of Jacksonville’s rushing attempts from inside the 5-yard line.

Damien Williams (CHI) $18 vs LV

This is purely a volume play that I would target in cash or 50/50 contests. Damien Williams is expected to be the lead back for the Bears during this next month. It all starts in Week 5 as Chicago takes on the Raiders, the team surrendering the 7th most fantasy points to running back this season. If Williams gets most of the RB work and is productive, expect his price to rise. Take advantage of the sub-$20 price tag this week.

Wide Receiver

Mike Evans (TB) $23 vs MIA

Mike Evans was mentioned in my Week 3 article. In that game, he smashed for 10 catches and 108 receiving yards, both season-highs for Evans. As the injuries have piled up for the Buccaneers receiving options, Evans and Chris Godwin have been the only consistent pass-catchers for Tampa. This week, Godwin is more expensive than Evans, which makes me want to lean towards the bigger-bodied receiver for less.

DJ Moore (CAR) $20 vs PHI

This may be one of the biggest price mistakes on Yahoo this week. D.J. Moore has been consistently in double-digit fantasy points this season. Last week, he also demonstrated a TD ceiling by finding the end-zone twice. This could hold true again in Week 5, especially if Christian McCaffrey is forced to miss another game.

Ja’Marr Chase (CIN) $20 vs GB

As mentioned in the QB section, the Bengals will be taking on a Packers team that could be without its top two cornerbacks. Even though he is a rookie Ja’Marr Chase has scored 4 touchdowns. Potentially lined up against a rookie corner, Chase should have no problem producing in this game.

Jaylen Waddle (MIA) $ 19 @ TB

Double-dose of rookies here. Going after Jaylen Waddle also gives a great opportunity to stack with the Buccaneers. As mentioned earlier, I like Mike Evans a lot this week. He and Waddle can pair nicely with either QB. In particular, the Tampa Bay run defense has been stout over the last few seasons. As 10 point underdogs, this was not going to be a run-heavy game script for Miami. But the Dolphins could legitimately throw the ball 50 times. If that is the case, most of the top receiving options will be viable.

Tight End

Darren Waller (LV) $23 @ CHI

I’m going right to the top at tight end this week. Due to new Yahoo DFS rules in 2021, the Sunday Night game is no longer part of the main slate. Because of this, Darren Waller is the top TE this week. However, he is not priced much higher than others at the position. That makes him quite the value in my mind as his consistent target share always gives him a chance for a monster game.

Jared Cook (LAC) $13 vs CLE

When looking for tight ends, we want to target offensives that will put up the points. Specifically in the passing game. The appeal with Jared Cook is the QB he is tied to. Justin Herbert is top 10 in the league in passing attempts, passing yards, and passing touchdowns.

The Chargers are a more pass-happy team in the red-zone, at least when compared to running the football. This has also led to greater success through the air than on the ground when close and tight to the end zone. The Chargers have produced 4 passing touchdowns this season from inside the 5-yard line. Compare that to only 1 rushing TD near the goal-line and things set up well for the Chargers pass-catchers. Especially since the Browns have not allowed a rushing TD from inside the 5-yard line yet this season.

Defense

Washington Football Team $10 vs NO

In a week where it is difficult to find good value at defense, I want to go all the way down the price list. For the minimum value play, Washington is the team. This is strictly on the chance of turnovers, as both the Saints quarterbacks have some issues protecting the football.
