7 Dynasty Players You Should be Buying Low Now

In my first article for Goingfor2, I am going to be highlighting my current favorite buy low candidates. This is a critical aspect of building any championship contending roster. Buying low is all about recognizing the potential and capitalizing at the right moment. Here are 7 players at each position that I am looking to buy low. There is a mixture of proven talent and unproven talent, but all of them should be able to be had pretty reasonably via trade.

Carson Wentz
QB | Age: 28

Carson is in a prime position to bounce back this season. It is no secret that Philadelphia is one of the hardest cities to play in for a quarterback. It comes with a lot of high expectations from their fans and the media. Moving to a smaller city in Indianapolis, a lot of the expectations and media scrutiny should alleviate a bit leaving Carson to focus on his play. The last time Carson played in a Frank Reich offense he was an MVP candidate. Add this to the wealth of pass-catchers already on the roster and it should lead to a bounce-back year. These factors make Carson a great buy-low candidate to hopefully recapture his MVP caliber play.

Ezekiel Elliott
RB | Age: 25

I know this one might come as a shock to see his name on this list, but after a down year last year, Elliot’s price has never been lower. He has been in the league so long that people forget he is still just 25 years old. There were a lot of factors that contributed to his down year last year. Dak and basically the entire starting Cowboys offensive line being hurt allowed teams to focus their game plans around stopping Zeke. With a healthy offensive line and a healthy Dak Prescott, the holes that Zeke has enjoyed throughout his entire playing career should be back. Given that a lot of owners are seeing the age cliff approaching and coming off a frustrating ownership year, I think Zeke can be had cheaper than you may think. In 2021 I see him recapturing his old form and finishing as a top 5 back.

Myles Gaskin
RB | Age: 24

One of the biggest breakout stars at the running back position last year was Myles Gaskin. And so far through the offseason, he has been able to avoid any major competition being brought in that would steal carries. The draft is still approaching and the Dolphins could easily bring someone in, but as it stands now Gaskin is the lead back on an offense that seems potent on paper. Gaskin was a very solid back on the ground and through the air in 2020. He did have a small sample size, really only showcasing his skills from week 3 through week 15 before the injury bug got him. During those weeks he was the PPR RB 15. If the Dolphins ultimately do not bring in any more competition then his value will be on the rise. So now is a perfect time to strike.

Henry Ruggs
WR| Age:22

We are only one year removed from Ruggs being drafted from Alabama in the first round of the 2020 draft. Ruggs didn’t make the splash that many were hoping for in 2020, but the talent is still there. Over the course of the 2020 season, he was able to showcase some of his big play ability. If he can become a more consistent threat, which he has the capability to do, then he will break out in a big way. Some targets were vacated when Tyrell Williams left for Detroit in the offseason. Given the draft capital that the Raiders spent on Ruggs, he will have every opportunity to prove himself. Coming off a mediocre rookie season, Ruggs is a great buy low with a very high ceiling.

Chase Claypool
WR| Age: 22

Another young stud receiver who should step into a bigger role this year is Chase Claypool. Chase has the ideal body size to dominate other cornerbacks. Especially when you factor in that he can play in the slot and outside on the perimeter. I have been high on Claypool for a while and with the Steelers deciding to bring back Juju Smith-Schuster, his ceiling is a bit capped for the 2021 season. Even with this, he is still a great buy low because he has all the tools to be a dynamic top-tier wide receiver in the league. It is worth the gamble that Juju leaves in free agency next year when teams have more spending cash with the cap space increasing. This would leave Chase as a true number one option and he could even capture that height this season.

Jerry Jeudy
WR| Age: 22

Jeudy was my favorite wide receiver prospect coming out of the 2020 draft. He is one of the best route runners to come into the league in a very long time. Last year the entire Broncos offense struggled. They battled injuries at the quarterback position all season long which really hampered him and the other Broncos pass catchers. On paper, the Broncos have one of the best young receiving cores in the NFL. If the Broncos can get some consistent play out of their quarterback position whether that is Drew Lock or a rookie, then big things are in store for Jeudy. It’s a great time to buy low on a 22-year-old wide receiver with a lot of high upside for future years on the horizon.

Evan Engram
TE| Age: 26

The dynasty community is very torn on Engram. It’s no secret that Engram struggled with drops last year. However, that does seem to be an outlier and not a consistent issue over his career. The Giants made a big splash in the offseason by signing Kenny Golladay. Let’s face it, Engram was the main pass-catching threat on the Giant’s offense last year. Having a player of Golladay’s caliber comes in means things should open up for Engram as teams can no longer focus on him. The giants could also very well bring in another pass-catching option either day one or day two of the draft this year. All of these factors together are good things for a relatively young tight end. Especially given the scarcity of the tight end position.
