Fanduel MLB Lineup Advice 5/13

Well, we had an uncharacteristic off night on Tuesday but no worries there! I definitely anticipated the wrong stacks, which ended up being the Diamondbacks and Athletics. Let’s jump into the analysis and initial lineup in pursuit of a Hump Day Cash Day as we near the middle of May.

Pitchers

James Shields, SD – $8,700

There’s a lot to like with Shields on Wednesday, pitching in spacious Safeco Field against a Mariners squad that is quite prone to striking out (20+% K rate collectively).  The former Kansas City Royal also gets a good “opposing pitcher matchup,” going up against the shaky Taijuan Walker. This means Shields has an excellent shot at that coveted four point win, and coupled with his strikeout potential, the Padres hurler is a great play on Wednesday.

Jose Quintana, CWS – $7,100

Let’s face it, the Brewers are one of the most pathetic teams in the NL (Rockies maybe?) and you have to like Quintana matching up with them on Wednesday. If you’re looking to include an expensive stack to your lineup, the White Sox southpaw could be a good, cheap option at pitcher. Hopefully the Brewers’ bats will stay dormant so Quintana can get a coveted win and lots of K’s.

Other options: Matt Harvey (NYM), Cole Hamels (PHI), Yordano Ventura (KC)

Hitters

Mike Moustakas, 3B – KC – $2,700

Moose is still batting incredibly well this season, and sits at an attractive position (#2) in that potent KC lineup. He is a great budget saver, and you have to love the matchup against veteran Yovani Gallardo of the Rangers. This seems like the value pick of the night, and you’re not going to want to miss out on Moustakas’ production.

Jacoby Ellsbury, OF – NYY – $4,300

Ellsbury is off to a torrid start in the 2015 season, and he has another great matchup against righty Nathan Karns of Tampa Bay. The Yankees outfielder has hit equally well from both sides of the plate (in terms of batting average), but he has had more pop on the left side with 3 doubles and one home run. Ellsbury has great speed and power potential, and he’s not salary strapping so give him a look.
