In 2019, Dallas Goedert joined Zach Ertz as a top-10 fantasy tight end as the Philadelphia Eagles’ pass offense revolved around their tight end duo. As Ertz struggled through his worst season in 2020, Goedert was tied for TE9 on a per-game basis in full-PPR. Had he not missed five games, he would’ve been a top-10 fantasy tight end again.
Ertz has yet to be cut or traded by the Eagles, but it’s only a matter of time before that happens. So Goedert is in line for the majority of the tight end target share, in what’s lined up to be a featured role in new head coach Nick Sirianni’s offense.
Goedert played four games without Ertz last year. He had at least six targets and four catches in the last three of those four, with more than 18.5 full PPR fantasy points in the last two. In two full games with Jalen Hurts as the Eagles’ quarterback, Goedert total 14 targets (an 18.9 percent share).
From Week 11-16, before he missed Week 17 with a calf injury, Goedert was TE6 in full PPR. Take out Week 16, when he was injured, and he had over 11.5 PPR fantasy points three times in five games and at least 7.9 PPR points in all five.
The addition of Devonta Smith and a healthier Jalen Reagor brings promise to the Eagles’ wide receiver corps this year. But Goedert should be no worse than No. 2 in the pecking order for targets, with 100-plus targets the realistic upside. If the Eagles somehow keep Ertz, at least into the season, then Goedert’s fantasy ceiling drops a little.

Goedert is coming in as TE9 in 12-team PPR leagues right now (Fantasy Football Calculator). With top-five at the position, breakout upside, there looks to be some value potential.

Breakout Confidence Level: 76% (when Ertz is gone, bump this to 80-85 percent)
