Before getting into Week 9’s quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers to help fantasy football lineups in need, let’s see how Week 8’s streamers did (Yahoo! scoring, 0.5-point PPR).
Quarterback: Derek Carr-18.30 points
Tight End: Michael Mayer-2.4 points
Team Defense: New York Jets-8 points
Four teams are on a bye this week-the Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars. Here are our top Week 9 fantasy football streamers at quarterback, tight end and team defense.
Quarterback: Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints vs. Chicago Bears
Carr went 19-for-27 for 310 yards and two touchdowns against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8. He has topped 300 yards through the air in three straight games, and he has done that and/or had multiple passing touchdowns in four straight games.
Week 9 brings another nice matchup for Carr against the Chicago Bears, who enter Week 9 allowing the fifth-most fantasy points per game to quarterback (Yahoo! scoring). In six of their eight games, an opposing quarterback has had multiple touchdown passes or topped 300 passing yards (over 270 yards with multiple touchdowns three times).
It’s not often going to look pretty for Carr, but he has been getting it done for fantasy football managers lately. A great Week 9 matchup makes him my top quarterback streamer again.

Tight End: Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals at Cleveland Browns
Zach Ertz going on IR last week paved the way for McBride to be the Cardinals’ No. 1 tight end in Week 8 against the Baltimore Ravens. And he delivered, with 10 catches (on 14 targets) for 95 yards and a touchdown. He also had high-level route participation, target share and route per target rates. He has at least five targets in three straight games, with over 60 yards in two of them.
The Cardinals will have a quarterback change in Week 9. Josh Dobbs has been traded to the Minnesota Vikings, after head coach Jonathan Gannon reversed course to say rookie Clayton Tune or Kyler Murray would start against the Cleveland Browns. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Tune is the favorite to start, so the lean appears to be that way until it’s confirmed.

It’s not a great matchup for McBride, as the Browns enter Week 9 allowing the fewest fantasy points to tight ends. But they’ve only faced two good tight ends, and one of them (Mark Andrews) had 80 yards and two touchdowns against them.
It’s fair assume Tune (or Murray) will be looking McBride’s way often on Sunday. Last week won’t be repeated, but the second-year man gets the nod as my No. 1 tight end streamer for Week 9.

Team Defense: Atlanta Falcons vs. Minnesota Vikings
The Falcons got burned by a rookie quarterback making his first career start in Week 8, when Titans’ quarterback Will Levis had four touchdown passes against them. They’ll get another rookie signal caller in Week 9, but it will be a step down in level as the Minnesota Vikings turn to Jaren Hall after Kirk Cousins suffered a torn Achilles last week.
Based on numberFire’s scheduled-adjusted numbers, the Falcons have the NFL’s best run defense through Week 8. They have also pressured quarterbacks at tied for the second-highest rate in the league (28.8 percent). That’s a bad combination for a Vikings’ offense that would surely like to lean on the run game with Hall under center.
Hall has been confirmed as the Vikings’ starter for Sunday, though it wouldn’t be shocking if the aforementioned Dobbs plays. Atlanta’s defense is set up well to succeed in Week 9 regardless, so they get the edge as my top streamer for the week.
