It is almost over, Week 10 that is which means the NFL season is navigating injuries and Covid pretty good. But there is always time to reflect on what was.
THE GOOD
It really doesn’t matter who your team is, there are people worth rooting for that should make you feel good.
ALEX SMITH, QUARTERBACK, WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM
Smith made his first start since that horrific leg injury and subsequent operations in two years. Think about that for just a moment. Yes, I cringe every time he drops back and cannot watch, but there is no denying that right now and no matter what happens in the near future this man is Comeback Player of the Year.
Sure he had to toss the ball times 55 times and was sacked twice…but he survived. His team isn’t that great. But Smith is. And that is good for everyone in 2020.
HEAD COACH BRIAN FLORES AND TUA TAGOVAILOA, MIAMI DOLPHINS
In case you haven’t noticed the Miami Dolphins are currently 6-3-0, and sitting one game behind the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East — to find the latest NFL odds visit OnlineCasinoSnoop.com. Yes, there was scoffing and ridicule when Flores decided to move on from veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick and go with Tagovailoa during the bye week, only to have his rookie’s first game be against Aaron Donald and the Los Angeles Rams. It worked out okay. And now Flores and Tagovailoa have the Dolphins in the playoff hunt. I say Coach of the Year votes should tally up on the side of Flores and Tagovailoa, himself playing after a pretty gruesome hip injury is looking pretty good.
THE BAD
The Baltimore Ravens aren’t looking good and it isn’t just their Sunday night loss to Cam Newton and the New England Patriots. It could be quarterback Lamar Jackson announcing opposing defenses are calling out their plays. The offense is second in rushing yards per game (164.) while languishing 31st in passing yards per game (184.1). And herein is the bad (not the least of which is using the word herein) the Ravens are not built to play from behind, and that is bad when you are behind at halftime against the Patriots (10-13), may be okay when you are behind against the Indianapolis Colts at halftime (7-10), but definitely not good when you are behind going into the fourth quarter against the Pittsburgh Steelers (17-21). Two of those were losses and the win against the Colts.
Jackson isn’t bad per se, he has a 64% completion percentage and has thrown five interceptions to 14 touchdowns. He has had at least 17 red zone runs but has not scored on any of them. The Ravens still run the ball 53% of the time, which leads the league. The three-headed monster of running backs, Mark Ingram, Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins have seven rushing touchdowns between them in nine games. (That isn’t great considering their division rivals Pittsburgh Steelers have seven rushing touchdowns between James Conner and Benny Snell in nine games).
The Ravens are 6-3 sitting tied for second in the AFC East with the Cleveland Browns. That’s not bad…it is just not good.Â
WTF
Not to be confused with the Washington Football Team, this is a legitimately WTF just happened!
That just happened. A cautionary tale to all general managers/head coaches that you do not trade a talent like DeAndre Hopkins for a running back named David Johnson or named Tom, Dick, or Harry and a future draft choice who is like I don’t know pissing in the wind. Â
Hopkins went up against three…THREE Buffalo Bills defensive men and came down with the ball. Kyler Murray had the best explanation “Shiiiiiiiiiid…Hop down there somewhere.”
That about sums it up. WTF just happened is one of if not the best wide receiver in the league just told Bill O’Brien to hold his beer, he had something to do.
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS NOT COOKING
This is a rant from a person who has D.K. Metcalf rostered in about…oh every fantasy league. WTF Russell Wilson, four targets and the first targets wasn’t until the third drive of the second half! I completely expected Metcalf would be adversely affected by being shadowed by Jalen Ramsey (why are you still not tuning into GoingFor2Live Sunday War Room 1130 eastern, 930 mountain on Facebook, Twitter, Periscope or YouTube?). But come on not to even glance in his direction…what are you doing?!?!
This makes three times in nine games that Metcalf has failed to score a touchdown, not catastrophic but this is the least amount of targets and with the exception of the Arizona Cardinals game, the least amount of yards he had 23 in that game while seeing two receptions on five targets.
After being touted as the front runner for the league MVP, this is the second dud game in a row for Wilson. The Bills intercepted him twice while sacking him five times, while the Rams jumped on board with six sacks and two interceptions. Â
The Seahawks will play the Cardinals this week on Thursday Night. WTF good and bad meet on the field. WTF!
