Fantasy Football Week 13 Streamers: QB, TE, Team Defense

Before moving to Week 13, with one game still left in Week 12, let’s look at how Week 12’s streamers did (Yahoo! scoring; 0.5-point PPR).

Quarterback: Derek Carr-1.60 points
Tight End: Dalton Schultz-4.90 points
Team Defense: New York Giants-9 points

A rough run continues, as Carr “crashed” in a great matchup. But moving on, here are my quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers for Week 13. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers are on a bye.

Note: The result of Wednesday’s game between the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers to finish Week 12 is not in line to change the rankings attached to these matchups for Week 13.

Quarterback: Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Cousins went 34-for-45 for 307 yards and three touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers in Week 12, setting a season-high for pass attempts and topping 300 yards in the second straight game. He has multiple passing touchdowns in four straight games (and in six of his last seven), with over 290 yards through the air in three straight and in four of his last six.

In Week 13 Cousins has a great chance to keep it rolling against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are allowing the third-most fantasy points to quarterbacks (Yahoo! scoring). Five straight quarterbacks have multiple passing touchdowns against them. Eight of 11 signal callers have had multiple touchdowns through the air against them this season, and two of the remaining three (Philip Rivers, Joe Burrow) threw for at least 300 yards. The 23 touchdown passes they’ve allowed are tied for second-most in the league.

A generally run-focused offense and the possibility of a solid lead over the 1-10 Jaguars creates a bit of downside for Cousins this week. But a closer look shows he hasn’t needed excessive volume, or a run of negative game scripts, to put up numbers lately. Playing as well as any quarterback in the league over the last handful of weeks, Cousins gets the edge as my top quarterback streamer for Week 13.

Others To Consider: Philip Rivers, Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans; Ryan Fitzpatrick, Miami Dolphins vs. Cincinnati Bengals (check status of Tua Tagovailoa; Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders at New York Jets; Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns at Tennessee Titans; Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons (check availability); Mitch Trubisky, Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions; Drew Lock, Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs (Sunday Night)

Tight End: Jordan Reed, San Francisco 49ers vs. Buffalo Bills (Monday Night)

Reed had just two receptions for 18 yards in Week 12 against the Los Angeles Rams. But he got six targets for the second straight game since coming back off IR, and for as long as George Kittle (foot) is out he’s the 49ers’ No. 1 tight end.

In Week 13 Reed gets a matchup against the Buffalo Bills, who are allowing the fifth-most fantasy points per game to tight ends (Yahoo!, 0.5-point PPR scoring). They are allowing the most receptions per game (6.0) and the second-most yards per game (64.5) to the position.

Reed is subject to the shortcomings of quarterback Nick Mullens, which isn’t ideal. But his Week 13 matchup is way too good to ignore, so he’s my tight end streamer for Week 13.

ESPN Ownership: 14.9%
Yahoo! Ownership: 25%

Others To Consider: Kyle Rudolph, Minnesota Vikings vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (check Irv Smith Jr.’s status); Mike Gesicki, Miami Dolphins vs. Cincinnati Bengals (check availability); Trey Burton, Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans; Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles at Green Bay Packers (check availability); Dalton Schultz, Dallas Cowboys at Baltimore Ravens (Tuesday Night); Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Rams at Arizona Cardinals; Logan Thomas, Washington Football Team at Pittsburgh Steelers (Monday)

Team Defense: Seattle Seahawks vs. New York Giants

Only getting one takeaway in Week 12 against the Philadelphia Eagles was a little disappointing, but the Seahawks sacked Carson Wentz six times and it took a touchdown and two-point conversion in the final minute for the Eagles to get to 17 points. The Seahawks have allowed 23 or less points in three straight games now, with at least three sacks in five straight games.

Even with quarterback Daniel Jones avoiding turnovers lately, Seattle’s Week 13 matchup against the New York Giants was lined up to be pretty good for the defense. Then Jones suffered a hamstring injury last Sunday against the Bengals, and it seems like he’ll miss Sunday’s game. Assuming Jones is out, Colt McCoy would get the start against the Seahawks.

The Seahawks were added in a lot of fantasy leagues last week as they headed toward facing Wentz and the Eagles. But there’s still room to add them this week, ahead of a solid matchup against the Giants that would be a notch better if McCoy starts under center.
