Fantasy Football Week 14 Streamers: QB, TE, Team Defense

Before diving into Week 14, here’s how Week 13’s streamers did (Yahoo! scoring, 0.5-point PPR).

Quarterback: Kirk Cousins-22.40 points
Tight End: Jordan Reed-10.70 points
Team Defense: Seattle Seahawks-9 points

A good week after a run of very bad weeks. Week 14 is the start of the playoffs in a lot of fantasy football leagues, and here are my quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers for the new week.

Note: Tuesday’s night’s Dallas Cowboys-Baltimore Ravens game to complete Week 13 won’t alter the context of these matchups for Week 14.

Quarterback: Philip Rivers, Indianapolis Colts at Las Vegas Raiders

Rivers completed 27 of 35 passes for 285 yards and two touchdowns against the Houston Texans in Week 13. He has multiple passing touchdowns with at least 285 yards in three straight games, with multiple passing scores in four of his last six (over 300 yards in one of the others). Week 14 is a prime spot to keep the good times rolling.

The Las Vegas Raiders are allowing the ninth-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks (Yahoo! scoring). Since their Week 6 bye, five of seven quarterbacks have multiple passing touchdowns against them. The two that didn’t were Baker Mayfield, Week 8 in bad weather game, and Drew Lock, who threw four interceptions in Week 10. In Week 13, Sam Darnold threw two touchdowns with a third score on the ground as he posted 21.04 fantasy points (Yahoo! scoring) against the Raiders.

Rivers is playing with a toe injury that’s in line to require surgery in the offseason. But he turns 39 this week (Tuesday, the same day I’m writing this), and mobility has never been his game.

A slow start has Rivers still operating under the radar as a top-10 fantasy quarterback over the last three weeks. For Week 14, he’s a pretty easy choice as my top quarterback streamer.

Others To Consider: Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers (check availability); Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (check availability); Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders vs. Indianapolis Colts; Alex Smith, Washington Football Team at San Francisco 49ers; Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins vs. Kansas City Chiefs; Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens (Monday night); Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles vs. New Orleans Saints (verify starter status); Andy Dalton, Dallas Cowboys at Cincinnati Bengals; Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears vs. Houston Texans; Mike Glennon, Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Tennessee Titans

Tight End: Logan Thomas, Washington Football Team at San Francisco 49ers

Thomas had his best game of the season on Week 13 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, with nine receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown. He has scored in back-to-back games now, with double-digit full PPR points in three of his last four and five of his last seven. Over the last five games, with Alex Smith mostly playing, Thomas has 29 targets.

Week 14 brings what looks like a tough matchup. But the San Francisco 49ers haven’t faced a daunting schedule of tight ends. Entering Week 13 only the Steelers were better against tight ends (Yahoo! 0.5-point PPR), and it didn’t matter for Thomas in that game.

Thomas is getting a good target share from Smith, and he’s finding the end zone (four touchdowns over the aforementioned seven games). I’ve gone to him as my top tight end streamer before, and I’m doing it again in Week 14.

Others To Consider: Mike Gesicki, Miami Dolphins vs. Kansas City Chiefs (check availability); Jordan Reed, San Francisco 49ers vs. Washington Football Team; Dalton Schultz, Dallas Cowboys at Cincinnati Bengals; Anthony Firkser, Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars (check Jonnu Smith‘s status); Tyler Eifert, Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Tennessee Titans

Team Defense: Washington Football Team at San Francisco 49ers

In the second half of Week 13, Washington held the Pittsburgh Steelers to three points. They needed a late interception to register anything fantasy wise, but they’ve allowed 17 or less points in three straight games. Before that game against Pittsburgh, they had at least four sacks in three of the prior four games.

The San Francisco 49ers needed a garbage time touchdown to get to 24 points in Week 13 against the Buffalo Bills. They did not top 17 points in Nick Mullen’s prior three starts, and Mullens threw two interceptions against the Bills for the second time in the last three games.

Washington’s talent-laden front four will get after the passer and bat balls down. Mullens is not precise, and turns the ball over with or without pressure on him. Defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio will surely have something for a mediocre quarterback, with sacks and turnovers lined up to come in bunches. The underappreciated WFT defense is my top  streamer for Week 14.
