Fantasy Football Week 15 Streamers: QB, TE, Team Defense

Once again, before the unveiling of Week 15’s streamers, here are Week 14’s results (Yahoo! scoring, full-point PPR).

Quarterback: Ryan Tannehill-28.54 points
Tight End: Jack Doyle-4.7 points

Team Defense: Tennessee Titans-10 points

Now, here are the top quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers for Week 15.

Quarterback: Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans vs. Houston Texans

Tannehill went 21-for-27 for 391 yards with three touchdowns and a interception, along with 19 rushing yards, against the Oakland Raiders in Week 14. He has multiple passing touchdowns if four straight games and in six of his seven starts as he’s topped 18 fantasy points six times in that span. Since taking over as the starter in Week 7 he is QB3 in fantasy, yet he still qualifies as a streamer for Week 15 going into another good matchup.

The Houston Texans are allowing the sixth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this year, with over 300 passing yards and/or at least three passing touchdowns allowed in eight of their last nine games (both four times in that span, widen out to over 270 yards and three touchdowns and it becomes six times in that span).

Tannehill was my top quarterback streamer in Week 8, Week 13 and Week 14. But I’m going back to the well this week, and it feels like a no-brainer.

Others To Consider: Jacoby Brissett, Indianapolis Colts at New Orleans Saints (Monday night); Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns at Arizona Cardinals; Drew Lock, Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs; Eli Manning, New York Giants vs. Miami Dolphins; Ryan Fitzpatrick, Miami Dolphins at New York Giants; Philip Rivers, Los Angeles Chargers vs. Minnesota Vikings; Gardner Minshew, Jacksonville Jaguars at Oakland Raiders

Tight End: Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams at Dallas Cowboys

Higbee had seven receptions for 116 yards against the Seattle Seahawks, on a team-high 11 targets. Over the last two games, with Gerald Everett (knee) out and matchups against the worst two defenses against tight ends, he has 14 receptions for 223 yards and a touchdown (almost two touchdowns, if Cooper Kupp had made a better throw last Sunday night). Week 15’s matchup is not quite as good, but it’s within shouting distance.

The Dallas Cowboys are in the bottom dozen of the league against tight ends this year. In Week 14, Chicago Bears tight ends Jesper Horsted and J.P. Holtz (this is where you say, who?) combined for seven receptions and 92 yards against them. That would be a solid stat line for Higbee all by himself, assuming Everett misses a third straight game on Sunday.

Everett does not appear close to returning, so Higbee is in line to get 100 percent of the Rams’ tight end targets to go with being on the field for nearly all of the snaps once again in Week 15 (91 percent and 97 percent snap shares the last two weeks). This week’s top tight end streamer, with or without Everett’s possible return, feels easy.

Others To Consider: Ian Thomas, Carolina Panthers vs. Seattle Seahawks (check Greg Olsen‘s status); O.J. Howard, Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions; David Njoku, Cleveland Browns at Arizona Cardinals; Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Redskins

Team Defense: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions

The Buccaneers’ defense is not especially good, but in their two games prior to Week 14 against the Indianapolis Colts they had averaged 19.5 fantasy points per game (Yahoo! scoring) with 11 total sacks, six total takeaways (three in each game) with a touchdown in each contest. In six games from Week 8-Week 13, they had multiple sacks five times with multiple takeaways three times. Week 15 brings an opportunity to get back on that Week 12-Week 13 track.

In his first two NFL starts, Detroit Lions quarterback David Blough has thrown three interceptions and taken seven sacks. Take away a long touchdown on his first career completion, and the Lions have scored a total of 20 points in the two games. Going back to Jeff Driskel‘s three starts when Matthew Stafford was first sidelined, and Detroit has scored 20 or less points in four of their last five games.

As long as Stafford doesn’t make a surprising (and frankly ill-advised) return to action on Sunday, Tampa Bay’s defense is lined up to succeed. Some other fairly widely owned options may be available in your league, but the upside and far wider availability pushes me toward the Buccaneers this week as my top team defense streamer.
