Fantasy Football Week 16 Streamers: QB, TE and Team Defense

Before getting into Week 16 streamers, here’s how Week 15 streamers did (Yahoo! scoring, 0.5-point PPR).

Quarterback: Ryan Tannehill-11.7 points
Tight End: Tyler Conklin-1.4 points
Team Defense: New Orleans Saints-7 points

Here are your quarterback, tight end and team defense fantasy football streamers for Week 16, semifinal week in many leagues.

Quarterback: Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers vs. Washington Commanders

Purdy is doing a nice Jimmy Garoppolo impression, with two passing touchdowns in all three games he has played with passing yardage totals of 210, 185 and 217 yards and a total of one interception. He has also posted over 15 fantasy points (Yahoo! scoring) in all three games.

It’s not a great matchup for the 49ers’ rookie signal caller in Week 16. But the Washington Commanders have allowed over 14 fantasy points (Yahoo! scoring) in 10 of 14 games this season, and more than 17 fantasy points seven times.

Purdy is in command of Kyle Shanahan’s offense, with a nice set of talent around him even without Deebo Samuel. If you need a streaming quarterback for Week 16, the floor is “Purdy good” here.

Others To Consider: Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans vs. Houston Texans (check injury status); Gardner Minshew, Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys (if Jalen Hurts doesn’t play); Daniel Jones, New York Giants at Minnesota Vikings (check availability); Sam Darnold, Carolina Panthers vs, Detroit Lions; Kenny Pickett, Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Las Vegas Raiders (Saturday night); Davis Mills, Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans

Tight End: Jordan Akins, Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans

Akins had three catches for 22 yards and a touchdown in Week 15 against the Kansas City Chiefs. He has at least five targets in three of the last four games, with a touchdown in two of them. Going back a little further, he has double-digit full PPR points in three of his last six games.

In Week 16 Akins gets the Tennessee Titans. The Titans have allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to tight ends this season (Yahoo!, 0.5-point PPR), including the third-most receptions (79) and the second-most yards (965) to the position.

Streaming tight ends at any stage of the season means targeting matchups. Akins has a nice one this week, so don’t let the stigma of “but he’s a Texan” stop you from going with him in Week 16.

Others To Consider: Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints at Cleveland Browns; Chigoziem Okonkwo, Tennessee Titans vs. Houston Texans; Noah Fant, Seattle Seahawks at Kansas City Chiefs; Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Arizona Cardinals (Christmas night)

Team Defense: Los Angeles Chargers at Indianapolis Colts (Monday night)

The Chargers defense has been playing better lately, allowing 15.5 points per game over their last two with a total of six sacks against the Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans. Their Week 16 matchup can’t get much better.

The 33-0 lead the Indianapolis Colts built over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 15 got headlines. But they scored 22 offensive points in the entire game (one touchdown, five field goals), aided by a pick-six from their defense and a fortunate carom on a blocked punt that led directly to a touchdown.

The Colts will be without running back Jonathan Taylor, taking away their best player. Matt Ryan has been a turnover machine for much of the season, when’s he’s been playing, and he’s a sitting duck in the pocket. It all adds up to the Chargers being Week 16’s top streaming defense.
