Fantasy Football Week 16 Streamers: QB, TE and Team Defense

Before diving into Week 16’s streamers, here are the results from Week 15 (Yahoo! scoring, full-point PPR).

Quarterback: Ryan Tannehill-25.16 points
Tight End: Tyler Higbee-23.1 points
Team Defense: Tampa Bay Buccaneers-15 points

Now let’s dive into my quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers for Week 16. Hopefully something is still at stake for you.

Quarterback: Ryan Fitzpatrick, Miami Dolphins vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Fitzpatrick had a solid outing against the New York Giants in Week 15, throwing for 279 yards and two touchdowns (without an interception) along with 33 rushing yards. He has thrown multiple touchdowns in three of his last four games, with at least 245 passing yards and/or multiple passing touchdowns in eight of nine games since taking back over as the starter.

In Week 16 Fitzpatrick gets a favorable matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, who are allowing the ninth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this year. Rushing production has somewhat driven that, but Fitzpatrick has offered something in that area with over 30 rushing yards in three of his last four games and over 20 yards and/or a touchdown on the ground in four of his last six contests.

There should be some fantasy production on both sides of Sunday’s Bengals-Dolphins game. Fitzpatrick is lined up to be a QB1, and streamer that will help win some fantasy leagues.

ESPN Ownership: 15.7%
Yahoo! Ownership: 25%

Others To Consider: Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans vs. New Orleans Saints (check availability); Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears vs. Kansas City Chiefs (Sunday night); Gardner Minshew, Jacksonville Jaguars at Atlanta Falcons; Drew Lock, Denver Broncos vs. Detroit Lions; Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals at Miami Dolphins; Jacoby Brissett, Indianapolis Colts vs. Carolina Panthers; Eli Manning/Daniel Jones, New York Giants at Washington Redskins

Tight End: Jacob Hollister, Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals

In a tough matchup, Hollister had just three catches (on three targets) for 23 yards in Week 15 against the Carolina Panthers. Over his previous five games he had at least six targets four times, and double-digit fantasy points (full-point PPR) three times in that span. Week 16 brings a great opportunity to get back on, or surpass, that previous track.

The Arizona Cardinals are allowing the most fantasy points to tight ends this year, and it’s not particularly close. The Cleveland Browns tight ends didn’t burn them for high volume last week, but Ricky Seals-Jones had two touchdowns to make up the difference. Hollister did not play against Arizona back in Week 4, but then (and now injured) starter Will Dissly had seven receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown as my top tight end streamer that week.

Hollister’s ownership rate push up to and over the general criteria to be a waiver wire add or a streamer. But he’s available in a big chunk of leagues, and a great matchup puts him atop the heap of tight end streamers for Week 16.

ESPN Ownership: 44.7%
Yahoo! Ownership: 61%

Others To Consider: Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams at San Francisco 49ers (Saturday night); O.J. Howard, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Houston Texans (Saturday); Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys (check availability)

Team Defense: Denver Broncos vs. Detroit Lions

The Broncos defense did as well anyone could expect against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 15, sacking Patrick Mahomes three times with an interception as they allowed 23 points. They have nine sacks over their last three games (three in each), with six takeaways over that span.

Another week, and another defense going against the Detroit Lions is the top defense streamer. In his three starts quarterback David Blough has completed less than 60 percent of his passes with five interceptions and nine sacks taken. Going back over the last six games, since Matthew Stafford (back) has been sidelined, the Lions have topped 20 points once with 17 or less points scored four times.

Denver has a top-12 defense in terms of yardage and points allowed this season. The Lions may get running back Kerryon Johnson back, but they won’t challenge either of those standings on Sunday. A high floor and high upside makes this unit the top team defense streamer for an important Week 16.

ESPN Ownership: 18.8%
Yahoo! Ownership: 23%

Others To Consider: Kansas City Chiefs at Chicago Bears (Sunday night); Indianapolis Colts vs. Carolina Panthers; Atlanta Falcons vs. Jacksonville Jaguars; New York Giants at Washington Redskins; Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals (check availability)
