Fantasy Football: Week 3 Buy Low, Sell High

Alright, fantasy football fans it’s time for my latest GF2 buy low, sell high advice for Week 3. Week 2 brought us an insane amount of games with once again dreadful player injuries. Like always, some fantasy studs underachieved and fantasy duds once again put up stellar numbers. This article will help you all figure out not only who you should try to trade for, but also who you should get rid of from your squad. Week 3 will be here before we know it, so let’s whip our lineups into shape.

Here are three players to avoid and three players to pursue for Week 3, so grab your notepads and start writing people!

Buy Low

DeMarco Murray, RB EaglesDeMarco Murray

Last season, Murray had one of the statically best seasons with my beloved Dallas Cowboys. Fast forward to this season and fantasy owners are in a major uproar with Murray’s production in the first two weeks. So far in 2014, Murray has rushed 21 times for 11 yards and one touchdown. These numbers are way off the pace for his 1,845 rushing yards just a season ago. Murray has also caught nine passes for 64 yards and one touchdown this season. Everyone had high expectations for Murray this year under Chip Kelly’s crazy offensive guidance. The stars just haven’t aligned yet in Philadelphia, trade for Murray as soon as possible, I truly believe you won’t regret it.

Jimmy Graham, TE Seahawks

In 2014, Graham had another solid season with the Saints before being traded to the Seattle Seahawks. Last year, he caught 85 balls for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns, which was an injury plagued year for him. Now, with Seattle, Graham is in a completely different style of offense that he just hasn’t found his place yet. So far this season, Graham has only been targeted 10 times, catching seven of those passes for 62 yards and one touchdown. This is quarterback Russell Wilson’s first real receiving threat that he’s had and he will find a way to better utilize him going forward.

Justin Forsett, RB Ravens

Forsett was a guy that I was super high on going into the 2015 fantasy season. By my standards, Forsett has majorly underachieved with the Marc Trestman offensive scheme. A receiving back like Matt Forte flourished under Trestman just a year ago, so why not Forsett? So far this season, Forsett has rushed 21 times for just 111 yards and no touchdowns. His bread and butter, though, is his pass catching ability, however, he has only caught eight passes for 25 yards and no scores. I firmly believe that the Ravens will have to start feeding him the ball more via the passing game, trade for him if possible in your league.

Sell High

Larry FitzgeraldLarry Fitzgerald, WR Cardinals

I totally hate to have him under the “sell high” category, but Fitzgerald isn’t the same guy he was a few seasons ago. He’s a touchdown-reliant receiver, making it hard to start him every week. He had no scores in Week 1 and 3 in Week 2, this just shows his inconsistent behavior on the field. His stats are far too inconsistent unless he’s scoring touchdowns. With second-year player John Brown seeing plenty of looks from Carson Palmer, I’m just not very high on Fitzgerald going forward. Try and swap him soon before the mid-season decline hits in Arizona.

Giovani Bernard, RB Bengals

Bernard is a nice complementary back for the Cincinnati Bengals, but he’s not the main guy in the mix. So far this season, Bernard has rushed the ball 28 times for 186 yards and has caught nine passes for 51 yards. Yes, he looks better than Jeremy Hill thus far this year, but just remember how he got passed on the depth chart just a year ago. I would highly suggest selling Bernard high while you can and trying to grab Hill as soon as possible. As soon as Hill figures out his fumbling issues, he will be the man to own for the Bengals.

Dion Lewis, RB Patriots

Over the years, I’ve learned to never trust a New England Patriots’ running back for fantasy football purposes. So, with that said Lewis is a massive sell high candidate if you went out and grabbed him off of waivers following Week 1. I hadn’t even heard of this guy before his Week 1 success versus the Steelers. This season, Lewis has rushed 22 times for 109 yards and a touchdown. He’s also caught 10 passes for 149 yards and a score, which is truly what has made in an asset in PPR formats. The problem with Lewis is the fact that he has lost two fumbles in as many weeks. Bill Belichick doesn’t take kindly to fumbles and may quickly put LeGarrette Blount in to be the lead back once again. Cut ties with Lewis if possible or roll the dice and keep him if you dare.
