Fantasy Football Week 3 Streamers: QB, TE, Team Defense

Before unveil my Week 3 streamers, let’s do the weekly accountability session for Week 2 (Yahoo! scoring, four points per passing touchdown, half-point PPR).

Quarterback: Josh Allen-22.22 points
Tight End: T.J. Hockenson-1.2 points
Team Defense: Denver Broncos-1 point

Quarterback: Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions at Philadelphia Eagles

Stafford went 22-for-30 for 245 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 2. He has multiple passing touchdowns in both games this season, while notably averaging 8.4 yards per attempt (6.9 yards per attempt in 2018). Through two weeks, Stafford is QB8 in ESPN leagues, and he’s lined up to keep it going in Week 3.

In their two games this season, the Philadelphia Eagles have allowed 380 (Case Keenum) and 320 passing yards (Matt Ryan) as those two signal callers had 45 and 43 pass attempts respectively. Naturally, they’ve allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to quarterbacks (27.2 per game; Yahoo! scoring).

A outdoor road game is a bit of a thing, but otherwise Stafford has a great matchup to exploit and the game script may push him back toward 40 attempts on Sunday. There’s a legitimate chance for a top-five finish among quarterbacks this week.

ESPN Ownership: 26.1%

Others To Consider: Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills vs. Cincinnati Bengals; Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers; Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings vs. Oakland Raiders; Jacoby Brissett, Indianapolis Colts vs. Atlanta Falcons; Joe Flacco, Denver Broncos, Denver Broncos at Green Bay Packers

Tight End: Greg Olsen, Carolina Panthers at Arizona Cardinals

Olsen turned back the clock in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with six receptions for 110 yards that included chunk gains of 16, 33 and 41 yards. As Cam Newton clearly looks diminished as a downfield passer, Olsen has 18 targets through two games.

Durability is an ongoing concern for the 34-year old, with foot issues sidelining him each of the last two seasons. But in Week 3 he gets the Arizona Cardinals, who have allowed the third-most fantasy points to tight ends through two weeks (Yahoo! scoring, 0.5-point PPR) and 100-yard games with a touchdown to T.J. Hockenson and Mark Andrews.

Olsen’s ownership rates are in a territory where he stretches the criteria for streamer consideration, but he’s worth checking in on with ample room to add and deploy this week.

Others To Consider: Will Dissly, Seattle Seahawks vs. New Orleans Saints; Tyler Eifert, Cincinnati Bengals at Buffalo Bills; Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys vs. Miami Dolphins

Team Defense: San Francisco 49ers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Spurred by two pick-sixes against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 49ers’ defense put up 27 fantasy points (Yahoo! scoring) in Week 1. They followed that up with a solid outing in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals (four sacks, 17 points allowed), and Week 3 brings a good opportunity to keep it rolling.

Ben Roethlisberger (elbow) is out for the season, so the Pittsburgh Steelers will turn to Mason Rudolph as their starting quarterback. The second-year man out of Oklahoma State saw his first regular season action after Roethlisberger left last week’s game, and went 12-for-19 for 112 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Running back James Conner (knee) also came out of last week’s game banged up, but as of right now there’s optimism he will play.

Facing a quarterback in his first NFL start on the road, signs point to San Francisco’s defense having a third straight good performance and they stand out as my top streaming defense for Week 3.
