Fantasy Football: Week 8 Buy Low, Sell High

The fantasy football season is quickly passing us and it’s been so much fun, but now it’s time to look forward to your possible playoff push. Week 7 brought us some fantastic action from players such as Todd Gurley and Ryan Tannehill, but also brought us some tough outings from guys like Drew Brees. By now you know whether you’re in the playoff race or are looking towards next season. Week 8 will be a pivotal one for us all and could bring us some potential fantasy studs returning to the field.

So, without further ado, here’s my Week 8 Buy Low, Sell High candidates:

BUY LOW

Dez Bryant, WR Cowboys

So, obviously I’m a bit biased being a Cowboys fan, but how can you not love Bryant for fantasy purposes. He suffered a broken foot in Week 1 versus the Giants and hasn’t been seen since. Each week Bryant gets closer and closer to making his return to the football field, I’m hoping Week 8 will be his time! Last season, he caught 88 passes for 1,320 yards and 16 touchdowns. When in the lineup for Dallas, Bryant saw a total of 136 targets last season, averaging 82.5 yards per contest. When he does come back, even with Matt Cassel or Brandon Weeden at quarterback, he will make an immediate fantasy impact. So, go out this week and try to make a deal for Dez before it’s too late!

A.J. Green, WR Bengals

Green hasn’t been the worst receiver this season, just a bit inconsistent. So far this year, he has caught 35 balls for 531 yards and three scores. Green has seen 49 targets this year, so he is getting looks from his quarterback. The thing with Green is that he’s not only coming off of a bye week so he’ll be fresh, but he also has a quarterback in Andy Dalton who is playing lights out. Green’s inconsistency won’t be a factor in determining whether or not I’ll go after him in a trade because I know what he is fully capable of. Target someone who is hurting at running back and make them an offer that they can’t refuse for this fantasy gem!

Ben Roethlisberger, QB Steelers

Another great fantasy player who will be making his comeback to the field very soon, Roethlisberger is a guy who I’m trying to get in all my leagues. In three games this year, he has thrown for 912 yards, four touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He has completed a solid 75.3 percent of his passing attempts and has a stellar 91.29 QBR for the season. When Big Ben does indeed come back, he will have a plethora of great targets in Le’Veon Bell, Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant. The guy is surrounded by talent and will make an instant impact not only in reality but also within the fantasy realm. This may very well be the last week to buy low on Roethlisberger, so go out and get him now!

SELL HIGH

Ryan Tannehill, QB Dolphins

I hate nothing more than admitting when I’m wrong, but I was when I predicted Tannehill to be an elite fantasy option this season. So far in 2015, he has thrown for 1,628 yards, 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions. You may be asking yourself why I would want to get rid of a player with 13 touchdowns, though… Well, he has easily been one of the most inconsistent fantasy quarterbacks of this year. Tannehill also plays in an ultra-tough defensive division in the AFC East, playing teams such as the Patriots and Jets. So, with all of that said after this awesome fantasy Week 7, I’m selling high on Tannehill and not looking back!

Mike Evans, WR Buccaneers

Here’s another example of a player who I had high hopes for who absolutely broke my fantasy heart. This season, Evans has caught just 21 passes for 338 yards and one score. He’s been very underwhelming overall and just doesn’t have a solid repertoire with rookie quarterback Jameis Winston yet. Evans exploded in Week 7 for eight catches, 164 yards and a touchdown. I don’t see many more big weeks like that from him, especially with Winston’s uncanny ability to stink it up on the field each and every week. I say sell Evans this week while you can and salvage the rest of your fantasy season.

Stefon Diggs, WR Vikings

You may be asking yourself why is this rookie sensation on the sell high list? Diggs has been nothing short of a fantasy stud over the past couple of weeks and doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. This year, he has caught 19 balls for 324 yards and a score, making him a solid fantasy option. But here’s the thing, the Vikings are more of a grind it out kind of team. They want to use Adrian Peterson and run the ball down player’s throats, controlling the flow of the game. Also, Minnesota does have a slightly tough fantasy playoff schedule where they’ll be facing both Seattle and Arizona during that time. So, as much as I dig Diggs, it’s time to start shopping him around to your league mates!
