Quarterbacks

Nick Foles-Rams

He hasn’t gotten off to the start he would have liked, throwing for 956 yards, just 6 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. However, as an offense, the Rams still look better than they have in previous years.

This week he gets a plus matchup against the Browns. I assure you, Peyton, made them look better than they actually are. They are a bottom 7 defense against your quarterback, you should be able to pull down some solid numbers with Foles this week.

Landry Jones-Steelers

Truth is, this guy could end up useless if Ben Roethlisberger plays. We will have to wait until after waivers to get him, we don’t want to waste our waiver claim on a guy who might not even be able to help us next week.

Rumors are saying Vick may have a minor hamstring tear, he will likely be out. With Vick out, Landry Jones will get a crack at the best matchup a QB can possibly get the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs allow the most points to QBs, amongst all defenses in the NFL. If you don’t want to use your waiver priority on a one week bye week QB filler, wait it out , Landry Jones should be there for you and will have a real shot to produce.

Kirk Cousins-Redskins

Coming into this week, Cousins isn’t exactly destroying opposing defenses. On the season he has 1,420 yards, just 6 touchdowns and a whopping 8 interceptions.

He does get a lot of yardage per game, but, the lack of touchdowns and the high number of interceptions are definitely enough to scare a GM off.

The matchup on the other hand, isn’t enough to scare a little kid, let along a gunslinger like Cousins. The Buccaneers allow the 6th most points to QBs on the year. If your desperate and willing to take the chance on Cousins. This could be a sneaky play come week 7.

Tight Ends

Charles Clay-Bills

As the season wears on, the Bills have been looking in his direction a little more. On the season he has 31/324/2. Not bad at all, considering Sammy Watkins also got hurt again, they will more than likely be looking for production elsewhere next week.

Clay has a good matchup this week as he plays the Jacksonville Jaguars. Their defense has allowed the 9th most fantasy points to TEs on the season. This could end up being a very nice pick up.

Kyle Rudolph-Vikings

Basically, when you’re starting him, you’re sitting back and hoping for a TD. If you don’t get your TD, you’re often left wishing you had made a different choice at TE.

On the season he has just 16/113/2, last week, we watched as the Vikings offense looked better than it had all year. It looked like they used their bye week wisely and worked things out and got their offense all on the same page.
This is a solid matchup, Detroit has allowed the 7th most fantasy points to TEs on the year.

Additionally, every time Rudolph has faced a defense in the bottom 10 against the tight end position, he has posted double digit fantasy points. He has a good chance to make it 3 for 3 against bottom 10 defenses.

Coby Fleener-Colts

He has the ability to get open and make plays, he also has an excellent rapport with Andrew Luck. On the season, he has just 19/168/1.
The problem with playing him is, Dwayne Allen is also there and he will steal targets from him. Even when Allen’s production seems insignificant, they are all touches that could and should go to Fleener.

This week the matchup is solid, as he gets set to play, the New Orleans Saints and there bottom 4 defense against the TE. If Fleener is going to have a break out game this season, this is going to be the week.

Defense

Minnesota Vikings

Coming into the season, I saw the Vikings as a top 12 defense. The problem they were having early on was the offense wasn’t giving them any support. They were spending too much time on the field, they would be worn down and were rendered useless come the 4th quarter.

This week they get a solid matchup, the Detroit Lions, I know they didn’t look like an offense that you want to stream a defense against, but, I think they will take a step back in week 7.

The Lions week 6 production was an aberration. We will start by looking at the defense of my beloved Bears. Let’s be real, they stink, I’m sorry Chicago. Furthermore, the refs called 2 terrible penalties that directly led to touchdowns.

The Golden Tate touchdown, should not have been a touchdown, these catch rules really need to be looked at, there is too much inconsistency and what appears to be guess work by the referees. Also, the refs made a terrible roughing the passer call, which gave the lions a first and goal, instead of a 4th and 20, this also led to a TD. I’m not ready to buy into Stafford again.

Pittsburgh Steelers

On paper, this isn’t a good defense, honestly, they aren’t a good defense on the field either. But, they have looked better as a defense as the year goes on.

This week they play the Kansas City Chiefs. Without Jamaal Charles this becomes a top 10 matchup for the Steelers. One thing we learned from watching the Chiefs this week, is that they haven’t figured out how to run their offense without Charles. If your D is on bye, the Steelers definitely warrant some consideration this week.
