Running backs

DeAngelo Williams-Steelers

He started off the season as the Steelers lead back, as Le’Veon Bell served his 2 game suspension. In week 8 we saw Le’Veon Bell go down with an injury. He tore his MCL and will be done for the year.

DeAngelo Williams is going to be the lead back in this backfield. When he filled in for Bell in week 8 he totaled 9 rushes for 71 yards. On the season he has 310 yards and 3 touchdowns, for a YPC of 4.9.

Moving forward Williams is a RB2 with RB1 upside. He is the number 1 claim this week.

Jeremy Langford-Bears

Another man who went down this week was Matt Forte. The good news is he didn’t tear his MCL, he did however Sprain it. MCL sprains are typically multi week injuries, so Jeremy Langford is going to get an opportunity to be the lead back.

He isn’t as valuable an add as DWill, simply because DWill will hold his job for the remainder of the year, Langford on the other hand will just be filling in until Forte can return, which should be this year.

Langford will not replace the production Forte was providing. He is a 10 to 17 point per week play, an RB3 with RB2 upside. There were moments where he made mistakes, or dropped passes that Matt Forte would not have dropped, but, he also looked solid when his number was called. I would expect that to continue, as that is the difference between Matt Forte and Jeremy Langford.

Theo Riddick-Lions

He has slowly been picking up speed as the best running back the Lions have. He has even been getting some love in the ground game. On the season he has yet to make an impact on the ground, but, has 38 receptions, 318 yards and 2 touchdowns. That’s already more receptions and yards than he had all of last year.

He should be owned in deeper PPR leagues, but, isn’t worth an add in standard leagues.

Antonio Andrews-Titans

Antonio Andresws had his first game where he actually dominated the snap count. He finished up with 64 yards and 3 receptions for 18 yards. He didn’t get any redzone opportunities as the Titans failed to score a touchdown.

He is a risky add this week, due to the fact that David Cobb is returning in week 9. There is no guarantee that he will get the start. Regardless, he should continue to handle the short yardage and goaline work.

David Cobb-Titans

David Cobb is clearly the most talented RB the Titans have. They are going to want to get him involved in the game plan as soon as they can. The only issue here is that Cobb is a rookie, who hasn’t gotten the chance to acclimate himself to the Titans system due to injury. Eventually he will pass Andrews, the only question is when.

Wide Receivers

Kamar Aiken-Ravens

With Steve Smith going down for the season, he is going to be the number 1 option for this offense. Earlier this season, when Steve Snith went down, Joe Flacco leaned on Aiken, i’m expecting that to happen once again.
Aiken is a WR2 moving forward, he is worth an add in all leagues.

Nate Washington-Texans

He has put together back to back big weeks, so he is worth a look in deeper leagues, however, it’s worth noting that Cecil Shorts has a chance to return to action soon. That can put a serious dent in Washington’s value moving forward.

Marvin Jones-Bengals

He may be one of the more consistent options available to you this week on the wire. He is one of the guys you can get if you are towards the back of the waiver priority. The lesser GMs may over look him because he had a down week this week.

It’s important to remember, that the Bengals offense as a whole looked terrible in week 8. They will look better than this in future weeks and in turn his numbers will be higher than what we saw this week.

Tight Ends

Heath Miller-Steelers

The Steelers had said during the week that they wanted to get Heath Miller more involved. They did just that, targeting him 13 times. He turned those 13 targets into 10 receptions and 108 yards. Next week he gets a matchup against the Raiders, who are by far the worst defense in the league when it comes to defending the TE.

Eric Ebron-Lions

He is worth an add even with Brandon Perttigrew returning to action. With Pettifrew back we did see a dip in his snap count and that will continue. He will also be put in a positions where if he doesn’t perform he can lose even more snaps, so he is a risky add.

The bottom line here is that Ebron still received enough work to contribute to your roster, but, the Lions offense has looked so bad that there will be weeks when Ebron goes missing.

Quarterbacks

Jay Cutler-Bears

To many people, it may come as a surprise to learn that Jay Cutler has been a pretty competent QB as of late. He finished up week 8 with 211 yards and 1 touchdown. The most important thing about his performance as of late is that he hasn’t turned the ball over.

Jay Cutler has QB 1 upside, if you are having struggles at the position, or just need a Bye week fill in, Jay Cutler is amongst the top options on the wire.

Derek Carr-Raiders

Since the Raiders have come off their bye week he has been on an absolute tear. Throwing for about 660 yards, with 7 touchdowns and 0 interceptions, he is the top QB available to you on the wire this week, he should be owned in all leagues.
