Five Deep League Players to Add Now (Week 13)

Playoffs are one week away. If you’ve clinched, Mazel Tov. If you’re in danger of a last-place punishment, Oy Vey. If you’re somewhere in the middle, 7-6 looks a lot better than 6-7, so let’s get you that last win. There’s nothing quite like fantasy momentum heading into an offseason of shortened basketball and hockey seasons.

As a brief warning, this is being written before this week’s waivers being processed, thanks to that much-maligned Ravens-Steelers affair. No fear, though; there’s a good chance these guys will still be around for you.

Without further adieu:

Running Back

Cam Akers, Los Angeles Rams (available in 31% of Yahoo! leagues)
Sean McVay has been a man of his word. He said he’d have a committee in the backfield, and that’s exactly what it’s been. Fortunately, McVay is finally letting Akers be a bigger part of that committee. Over the last few games, his role has grown, and he’s found paydirt in each of the last two games. On the flip side, Malcolm Brown has seen his role reduced as of late, and a two-man backfield is a lot less intimidating than having a third in the mix.

Jeff Wilson Jr., San Fransisco 49ers (available in 93% of Yahoo! leagues)
Wilson returned from injury last week and carried the ball 12 times. That’s not too shabby if you ask me. It’s not the most he could’ve gotten, but it’s enough. It’s like when we got three seasons of Robb Stark walking around, talking about loyalty. Sure, we all could’ve gotten behind more of The Young Wolf riding around, looking cool and bearded, but at least we got some. Maybe Wilson will touch the ball even more times this week, but if not, at least we’ll get some. Raheem Mostert is the top back here, but last week showed Wilson is a part of this team’s plan even in close games.

Wide Receiver

Keke Coutee, Houston Texans (available in 97% of Yahoo! leagues)
For a while, the Texans’ receiving corps looked like they could somewhat handle the loss of DeAndre Hopkins. With Will Fuller V, Brandin Cooks, and Randall Cobb all playing fairly well, there were fantasy points to go around. Fast forward a few weeks, Fuller got caught cheating, and Cobb is on the IR. Deshaun Watson is putting up insane numbers every week, and with those two out of the mix, look for Coutee to benefit. Since Cobb’s injury, Coutee has averaged over 7 PPR points per game.

Keelan Cole, Jacksonville Jaguars (available in 77% of Yahoo! leagues)
The Jaguars are not fun. I’m sorry, but they’re not. They are, however, hurting at wide receiver. Chris Conley and D.J. Chark both missed last week and have both been limited this week. Those ailments should make sure Cole continues to see the volume he’s been getting all year, seeing less than five targets only twice this season. He’s also popped a few games, putting up 20+ PPR points in two games. He has a steady, safe-ish floor if you’re looking to replace a Buccaneer or Panther this week.

Tight End

Dalton Schultz, Dallas Cowboys (available in 79% of Yahoo! leagues)
Regardless of who has been at the helm this year, Schultz has had a safe floor in this offense. Every week his team is terrible, and every week he puts up 6-12 PPR points. If you need a tight end this week, I really hope you don’t need a tight end this week. Like, let’s be real. If you’ve made it to a playoff-implications game without a top tight end, keep doing what you’re doing; my advice won’t help you. If you’ve been starting Gronk, Dalton should be your guy.
