Five Fantasy Football Overreactions from Week 2

Matt Jones is a must play this week against the Giants after his week 2 performance.

Look I love Matt Jones. I stated all off season that he was a must-own player in season-long leagues. In fact, I drafted him in every single one of my 200 player plus drafts, but he is not in play this week. He still plays behind Alfred Morris and Jones received the amount of touches he got in week 2 because of game flow. I find it very doubtful that the Redskins are ahead and trying to kill the clock in this game. The Giants are also a top 3 defense against the run only giving up 68 yards a game and 3 yards per attempt.

Travis Benjamin is a top value play after scoring 4 touchdowns the first two weeks.

The less than one percent of players who played Benjamin got lucky once again. Benjamin is a non-play every week for two big reasons. Reason number 1: he has ran a total of 9 routes this entire season. If he continues to score a touchdown for every 3 routes run then Benjamin will be the greatest wide out to ever play the game and deserves to be paid more money than anyone in the league. Reason number 2: Johnny Manziel is back on the bench. Josh McCown does not have the arm Manziel has and will not be able to get the ball to Benjamin on the rare route he runs.

The Eagles are done as an offense.

This might be the biggest overreaction I have seen. Do they look good right now? No they don’t. Will they turn things around this week against the Jets? Probably not as the Jets have a top ranked defense but I promise you they will turn things around. They are still a team lead by the best offensive mind in any level of football in Chip Kelly. They still have talent at all positions and were a top 5 offense last year. Will I stream this week in cash? No, but am I going to never play them again based on one week? Nope.

Andrew Luck is not a great quarterback and should not be played in fantasy.

If you really believe that you should not be playing fantasy sports. Luck is a great player and will turn things around – and most likely this week. His top receiver will be healthier this week and the Titans are still shaky in the secondary. The Colts also had to play two of the top defenses in the league in the first two weeks in the Bills and Jets.

Larry Fitzgerald is a one week wonder at his age.

I will admit I thought Fitz was done. But, I was wrong. If you look at his numbers with Carson Palmer they are great. With Palmer, he averages 80.5 yards a game without Palmer his numbers drop to 30.1 yards. Fitz is a top second option at wide receiver each week as long as Palmer is on the field.
