Free NBA DFS Fanduel Lineup Advice 1/28/16

What’s up guys? I’m not going to bore you tonight with a long introduction, but I just wanted to thank everyone for helping us to a successful Podcast launch last week. I’m working on some background stuff, which is why you haven’t seen another one yet, but I hope to put out two or three a week once everything is said and done. Now on to the show…

Game Winner My Game Winner will be my top play for the position.

Dunk A Dunk is a second or third tier player with the highest upside.

Half-Court Shot Otherwise known as a “punt play”.

Pass A player deemed a Pass is someone I’m not playing…or passing on.

So let’s get started…

NBA DFS Fanduel Lineup Advice and Analysis for 1/28/16

Point Guard

Game Winner Rajon Rondo, Kings $8,500

NBA Fanduel Lineup 1/28/16, dfsRondo has double-digit assists in each of his last 13 games which keeps his floor extremely high and he seems to flirt with double-digit rebounds more often than not. He is one of those rare players that doesn’t need to score to have a great fantasy day. You take those factors into account and with great matchup against the Pelicans and you have yourself tonight’s “game winner” at the point guard spot.

Dunk Jrue Holiday, Pelicans $6,800

For tonight’s PG Dunk of the night, you have to look no further than the point guard across from Rondo. Holiday has started to look like his old self, you know, the guy that led the 76ers to the playoffs in what seems like an eternity ago. As bad as the Pelicans defense is, the Kings defense may be just as bad. I will have a lot of exposure to this game in what I think will be a high scoring affair and one that should remain relatively close.

Half-Court Shot Jerryd Bayless, Bucks $4,000

Bayless and Michael Carter-Williams will split time at the point fairly evenly, and on occasion will be on the court at the same time. Bayless is a better shooter than MCW and gives the Bucks some much-needed outside shooting. Bayless should receive 25-30 minutes tonight and I expect him to give you about that many fantasy points as well. **If Kyle Lowry is ruled out, also look at Corey Joseph**

Pass John Wall, Wizards $9,600

Wall’s upside is ridiculously high, as clear by his 73-plus fanduel output on January 16th, but since that game, he has struggled and hasn’t had more than 36. He may sneak into a GPP lineup for me, but with his recent play, his price may be too steep.

Shooting Guard

Game Winner DeMar DeRozan, Raptors $8,200

NBA Fanduel Lineup 1/28/16, dfsFor those that read my column a lot, you already know how much I love DeRozan. Both him and Lowry make it to my column features a lot, but if you look at DeDe’s recent games, he has struggled somewhat. So why have him as my game winner you ask? Kyle Lowry may not play in this game, leaving DeRozan as the biggest offensive threat. Typically, if one of them is out, the usage of the other goes through the roof.

Dunk Will Barton, Nuggets $6,200

With so many GTD’s at the shooting guard position, it became survival of fittest as to who made this list. Barton should easily have his way with the Wizards tonight. The Wizards aren’t the defensive team they were last year despite having the exact roster for the most part. I live in the D.C. area, so I see a lot written and said about them, and the other day they were breaking down, “what’s wrong with the Wizards”. They outlined a few plays where an opposing player got the defensive rebound, outlet’ed the ball, and then proceeded to beat every Wizard down the court and get a lay-up on the other end. It’s not a lack of talent, but a lack of effort. If that type of effort continues, Randy Wittman may  get David Blatt’ed before the end of the season.

Half-Court Shot Kyle Korver, Hawks $4,000

As I write this, Korver’s game against the Clippers has just started, so some of the stats I’m about to give may have changed, but over Kover’s last four games he has reached value in all four. I had him as my top value for last night’s game, and if he plays well, he’ll be a top value again tonight.

Pass Jimmy Butler, Bulls $8,700

This is nothing against Butler, I just don’t see the Lakers staying close enough and Bulter may not have to play that much. This game has blowout written all over it.

Small Forward

Game Winner Paul George, Pacers $8,900

NBA Fanduel Lineup 1/28/16, dfsHere we go again! I always seem to be on the wrong side of George, but if I removed his name and just looked at the numbers, he would have to be my Game Winner. He has had 40 or more fanduel points in three of his last four games, and his price tag is still low enough that he is worth taking the risk.

Dunk Danilo Gallinari, Nuggets $6,900

Say it with me, “Start the small forward playing against the Wizards.” It’s been a mantra of mine for a while, and it hasn’t failed me yet.

Half-Court Shot Bobby Portis, Bulls $3,500

I can’t imagine a scenario where Nikola Mirotic plays in this game after just having an appendectomy, so Portis should see a ton of minutes. Keep in mind, I’m writing this before we know who the starters will be, so if Portis goes out and gets 10 minutes and Doug McDermott gets all minutes, don’t hold it against me.

Pass None

My “Pass” is always a top-tier guy, and with Carmelo Anthony questionable and Rudy Gay out, there isn’t really any top players left to pass on except Giannis Antetokounmpo, but I actually don’t mind him. So no Pass tonight.

Power Forward

Game Winner Paul Millsap, Hawks $8,900

NBA Fanduel Lineup 1/28/16, dfsIt’s the third quarter in the Hawks game as I write this, and Milsap has 33 fanduel points already. I’m a little worried about the back to back in Indiana, but as long as he plays, he will be my top PF tonight. For a Hawks team that has a great deal of fantasy inconsistency, Milsap has been the most consistent. He has 50 point upside and a high floor for a guy costing $8,900.

Dunk Zach Randolph, Grizzlies $6,000

I grit my teeth a little with this pick because you never know what you’re going to get from him on a nightly basis, but the matchup doesn’t get much better, he’ll be on three days rest by the time this game tips off, and his price is perfect for the upside.

Half-Court Shot Willie Cauley-Stein, Kings $4,500

In case you hadn’t noticed this change from a few days ago, Fanduel moved WCS from center to power forward, so now you can play him and DeMarcus Cousins in the same lineup if you wish. He has received big minutes the past four games, getting at least 30 in all four, and has done a good job filling up the stat sheet. He’ll draw a tough matchup with Anthony Davis (if he plays), but at $4,500 WCS will still reach value.

Pass Anthony Davis, Pelicans $10,000

Speaking of Anthony Davis, it’ll be awhile before I can trust starting him again. I’ve started to hear the rumblings of Davis being compared to Derrick Rose with all the injuries, and as a DFS player, I’ll argue that he is worse than Rose. At least, with Rose, you knew he wasn’t going to play! Davis starts the game and gets some freak injury seemingly every third game.

Center

Game Winner DeMarcus Cousins, Kings $11,200

NBA Fanduel Lineup 1/28/16, dfsYeah, I know, he laid a dud the other night in Portland, but that’s exactly why I want him. He burned a lot of people in that game, and 80 percent of those people won’t want to play him again. I’ll take that low ownership and his 60-plus points to the bank, thank you very much.

Dunk Jonas Valanciunas, Raptors $6,400

He isn’t super flashy, doesn’t have the ridiculous upside, but what he does have is consistency. He flirts with double-doubles on a nightly basis and now gets a matchup with the suspect interior defense of the New York Knicks. Plug him and he’ll give you 35 fanduel points.

Half-Court Shot Nikola Jokic, Nuggets $5,300

Yeah, he wasn’t great last night, but there really isn’t much in the way of value at the center position tonight. He is the best there is. So in other words, pay up.

Pass Al Horford, Hawks $7,500

Remember how I said that Milsap was the only consistent player on the Hawks? Well, meet mister inconsistent. In his last 10 games, he has a 45 and 64 fanduel point game but counters that with a 21 and 24 point effort. No thanks.
